It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Thanks for the questions. The condition of decking, coping and waterline tile looks good. no cracks on the floor. Only three cracks on the bottom half of the side wall. cracks are not aligned. I think there was only one crack last year, the two smaller ones started to show up this year. The...

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Thanks Gwegan. What can be the causes of gunite crack leaking? Should I have a structure engineer take a look? I did contact a gunite contractor, and he offered to reinforce the 3 cracks and then replaster the whole pool. The 3 cracks will have 5 years limited warranty, while other areas of the...

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Thanks Joyfulnoise, Called a plaster company just now, and he is coming to take a look. I am wondering if replastering the pool is a good way to fix crack leak?

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Thanks! I am living in the north CA. Besides fiberglass, any other options to permanently fixing a crack leaking gunite pool? The companies I talked told me neither replastering the whole pool nor fill the cracks with some materials won't last. - - - Updated - - - They said fiberglass is more...

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

I am not 100% sure, as I purchased the house last year. The house was built in 70s, and the pool guy told me the pool was built in 70s as well. - - - Updated - - - The pool is in the SF bay area, and there were some earth quakes since last year, which I guess might be the causes. How to...

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Thanks Borjis, The leak detection company I used told me that fixing cracks only would be a temp fix, and had no warranty, and could last as short as one year. The longest crack is about 6 to 8 ft. The other two are about 4 to 6 ft. Thanks

It is common to fiberglass an existing leaking gunite pool?

Hi Everyone, My in ground gunite pool has 3 cracks on the side wall, and is leaking 1 inch water per day. A pool company suggested me to use fiberglass to resurface the whole pool to fix the leak, and they provide a warranty of 5 years. I am wondering if this is a common approach to fix a...

How can I get rid of the dead algae?

Yes, I did test it. The overnight chlorine lost was less than 1ppm. If they are still alive, should I raise FC to 10 again (given the cya is 2), or just keep FC at 3 and they will die eventually?

How can I get rid of the dead algae?

Previously, my pool had quite some yellow algae. The water was very cloudy. I shocked it twice, and have been maintaining chemicals at the correct level. (FC 2~3, CYA 20, PH 7.5). Now the water is crystal. The algae are dead (no CC at all). However, there are still some black dead algae at the...

This pool filter cannot be backwashed?

Thanks you all. Had someone clean it. It's indeed a DE filter. I am going to keep it as it for now. And see how painful is it to maintain it without a valve.

This pool filter cannot be backwashed?

Yes, seems it was not installed properly in the first place :( Is it worth the efforts to add a valve to it? or just keep it like this and do a thorough cleaning once a year? I am not sure how many more years it can last. By looking at the manual, I think it was installed in 2004. Probably I can...

This pool filter cannot be backwashed?

The manual left by the previous owner is for "Pro-Grid Vertical Grid D.E. Filter Series". There is a tag on the top of the filter, which is attached. I can see "DE2420MRZ1" at the bottom of the tag. I googled "Hayward DE2420", it seems to be a DE filter :(

This pool filter cannot be backwashed?

Hi All, I recently noticed the filter pressure is over 20 PSI. So I guess it's time to clean the filter. However, as in the attached picture, I can't find any valve on it so that I can do a backwash. So to clean it I will have to manually open it up? If that is the case, how much does it cost...

Apply epoxy to uneven surface to fix the leak?

Thanks JasonLion, Yes, it was fixed by fiberglass, and started to fail recently. I will clean the surface, and remove all loose parts. I am wondering if I should apply epoxy or pool grade plaster to fix it after the cleaning. Is it serious enough so that I might have to replace the entire skimmer?

Apply epoxy to uneven surface to fix the leak?

I recently bought some pond armor epoxy (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Pond-Armo...QT-R/203886503), and plan to use it to fix the leak at the skimmer throat. The leaking spot is at the joint between the skimmer and the tile. The surface looks very rough. Of course, I will try to clean it further...

What is the best way to fix this leak?

Thanks gwegan! I removed the fiberglass today. The skimmer is a little bit lower than the tile which I guess is normal. And all parts seem to be tight. Just ordered the pond armor online, will comment back how it is going later. Last question: Do I need to apply some concrete/grout to make the...

What is the best way to fix this leak?

Thanks everyone! There is a leaking spot on the floor of the skimmer inlet (Please see the pictures attached, sorry the pictures are upside down, and I failed to figure out how to turn them around). It lost 2 inches water per day, and was detected by injecting coloring. The leaking spot is on...

    Leaking from the waterfall return?

It turns out removing the lid of the waterfall pump doesn't stop the leaking. After removing the lid in the morning of Nov5, it still lost 1/2 inch water in 10 hours. So I guess it should be something wrong with the pool vessel. One thing I don't quite understand is that the leaking speed is...

    Leaking from the waterfall return?

Hi All, I just bought a house with a pool. unfortunately, the pool is leaking. I had a leak detection company onsite, and they found nothing. Then I was instructed to take off the lid of the waterfall pump, and monitor the water line to see if the leaking stops. Because they suspect it's the...
