Stenner, completely lost on choices and options.

I see one on eBay for $85.50+Shipping, is that the one you saw? I think I've seen that one listed several times. Assuming the photo is correct, that's the 6VDC version that runs off of D-Cell batteries, the AC version is just the right half of what's in the picture. I'm not sure if there's an...

Stenner, completely lost on choices and options.

Electrical was my big problem as well. When my pool was built (before I owned the house), the electrical box at the equipment pad was wired for 240v only, there was no neutral back to the main panel. I ended up having to extend another branch circuit to add a 120v GFCI outlet for my dosing...

Stenner, completely lost on choices and options.

Stenner is not the only option for peristaltic pumps, and some are available with integrated timers. I was pretty close to going the Stenner route, simply because that's what most people here use and recommend, but a couple of years ago I happened to see a Beta DR-2000 dosing pump on eBay for...

Automatic Pool Fill Control (Moteino, Pi3, MySql/Python, Sprinkler Valve, eTape)

I just have a single speed pump and a booster pump for the polaris, no variable speed yet. I'm just turning the power to the pumps on or off using solid state relays. I've considered a variable speed pump, but my energy cost is fairly low, so I'll probably just go with a two speed replacement...

Automatic Pool Fill Control (Moteino, Pi3, MySql/Python, Sprinkler Valve, eTape)

Thanks for posting your project, that's a great idea. I use a Raspberry Pi based system to schedule my pool pumps and monitor the pool temperature. I've never seen the eTape sensor before, now that I have, I may consider adding water level monitoring.

help me understand stenner setup for chlorine

As far as connecting the injection fitting, if you are going to cut out the Frog and replace it with a piece of straight pipe, I would recommend putting a tee in with the straight pipe. I had an inline chlorinator that used tabs, I cut it out and replaced it with a section of straight pipe and...

    Liquid Chlorine

At my local WalMart, I first found it in the pool supply section, then when it went on "Rollback" for $2.50 they had a couple of pallets of it right inside the entrance. Yes, 16 063 would be the 63rd day of 2016. Bleach is typically date coded the same way, I always try to get the latest date...

    Liquid Chlorine

FWIW, I've had good luck so far this year with the WalMart 10% chlorinating liquid. I just checked the date code on the last few bottles I bought, it was 16 063, so less than a month old. The FC increase has matched PoolMath when I've tested it. Liquid Chlorine is pretty hard to find around...

DIY - Building a peristaltic pump injector for Heatsavr

I've never dealt with a liquid pool cover, but I use a peristaltic pump to inject liquid chlorine/bleach into my return line. I use a Stenner UCDBINJ injection fitting that has a duckbill check valve built in. I bought it a few months ago, I think it was about $15-$20, but I just plumbed it in...

    Lighting Automation - Insteon Iris

I didn't mention the system I use for lighting control because I wouldn't really recommend it. I use X-10 modules and switches for my lights. It's an old system, it sends remote commands over AC electrical wiring, so it's subject to interference from noise on the power lines, and there are...

    Lighting Automation - Insteon Iris

I have a Lowe's Iris system that I use primarily as an alarm system and remote control thermostat. One of the kits that I bought came with a "smart plug", I plugged a lamp into it and verified that it worked and I could turn it on and off from my phone, but that's about it. I have another...

    Bullfrogs driving me crazy

I can relate. A few days after I took the cover off of our pool a few weeks ago, I fished 18 frogs out of the pool! We have a small pond about 20-30 feet from the pool, so I just dumped them in the pond. The next few days there were anywhere from 2-8 each day, I just kept taking them to the...

    Any Geeks Out There?

I definitely would have had more options if there was 120v service near my pool equipment. My pumps can be wired for 120v, but there's no neutral available in the subpanel at the pool equipment, so I can't even put in a 120v receptacle without pulling more wire. Aside from that, I just like to...

    Any Geeks Out There?

I'm working on a Raspberry Pi based timer for my pool right now. I have a programmable peristaltic pump that I got cheap on eBay (Beta DR-2000) that I'm using for chlorine injection, but obviously need to make sure the pool pump is running when the chlorine is being injected. I was worried...

    Equipment not fastened to pad

Not a problem... The pump on the left is the main pump that circulates the water through the filter. The large filter tank is a cartridge filter like you describe with a large white pleated filter cartridge in it. The second pump on the right is the booster pump for the Polaris pressure side...

    Equipment not fastened to pad

Since my first drain stopped at the bottom of the skimmer, I didn't replace enough water to get the CYA where I wanted it. There are two ports on the bottom of my skimmer, one is plugged, and the other has a little plastic door that pivots and can be set to cover all or some of the port. I...

    Equipment not fastened to pad

Thanks for the replies, that's pretty much what I thought. As long as gravity works, the equipment is not going anywhere. Yes, the line with the ball valve goes to the main drains. I determined that experimentally when I was draining water to reduce the CYA level. Fortunately there is a...

    Equipment not fastened to pad

My wife and I recently purchased a house with a pool. The pool was installed sometime after the house was built, I believe it is about 4-5 years old. I've been maintaining it using the TFP methods since we took posession of the house, and so far have had no problems. I recently discovered...

    russenterprises introduction

I want to say thanks to everyone on this site for providing the information that is here. I've been lurking for a long time, and finally registered today. My wife and I started looking for a new (to us) house about a year ago, and we both agreed that we wanted a house with a pool. I was...
