Down to these 2 bids in Austin--what do you think?

Since you need to postpone (agree with your reasons!), why not look at doing an owner-build? I had a bid and design done also and postponed a year so I could pay cash and . I started mine in at the end of October and stretched out the build at my own pace and finished at the end of Feb. I was...

New Owner/Builder Pool in Las Vegas

My favorite part is the double hot tub! JK! Some nice shed-free trees will add some welcome shade in that Vegas sunshine! Looks like a winner.

Is there an o-ring or an indentation for one on the water sensor where it will meet the pipe? My acid pump simply connects to a saddle clamp with an o-ring to seal it. Oz is right, it doesn't take a certified expert to install some of these things, and most or all of them are capable of doing...

New Owner/Builder Pool in Las Vegas

My automation components were installed by the guy that did my startup when the pool was filled. Other parts (acid pump) was not connected to the pipe until a month later. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

New plaster with divots and pock marks?

Sounds like someone forgot to switch his shoes from spikes to sponges before he floated his way out. :(

+1 for those that think it still looks awesome and completely suited for the scale of your yard. Let's face it, most of us here with an issue are experiencing first world problems. Thanks for the reminder!

introduction and new pool build in AZ

All things considered, I think you escaped relatively unscathed. Looks like an area under your sheer and around your baja got washed out a little, so they will be shooting a little extra shotcrete in there. I've seen much worse!

how much wider do they dig the hole? plumbing tomorrow. is the hole dug right?

Re: pb recommeds AGAINST umbrella sleeves in deck Here's a pic of mine during install... Even if you don't end up using them, it's a lot easier to have them installed during the paver install. I also have one on either side for a volleyball net.

how much wider do they dig the hole? plumbing tomorrow. is the hole dug right?

Re: pb recommeds AGAINST umbrella sleeves in deck I have 3 of these in my paver deck. The key is to make sure that they dig a good size hole under the pavers and fill it with concrete. Once it is in and level, they cut the paver around it and grout the seam. The only issue with mine is that...

I sure hope you didn't get too much rain today. We are getting drenched across town! Looks good! I spend about half of my time lounging on my baja step watching the kids.

New Owner/Builder Pool in Las Vegas

My steel guy missed the notes from my engineer that said "6x12 on the vertical". When I went to inspect at the end of the job, I asked him where they were (he had done 12x12 for the whole pool). Should have seen his face. I also felt bad, but it was in the bid sheet and I wasn't about to be...

    New Owner/Builder, Los Angeles

Re: New Owner/Builder, Need Referrals for Subs I also don't have local subs, but what I found was that you can get great referrals from the "neighboring" sub. By that I mean my shotcrete sub knew a couple of really good steel guys and plaster subs. The steel guys knew the excavators and the...

New Owner/Builder Pool in Las Vegas

Isn't it nice to make changes and not have to go back to a PB to get them re-drawn for a few $$? I removed a step and added a bench by rubbing my foot in the dirt and spraying a line on the ground. Didn't cost me a penny! Looking good - let's hope the weather holds!

Completed DIY Build in Gilbert, AZ

Obviously, only time will tell, but let's face it, we live in AZ and if I had a deck made of Jello it would still be warm! I initially wanted to go with acrylic lace, but the wife wanted pavers. I compromised by finding these Belgard Noce pavers that are made with white concrete. They are...

Completed DIY Build in Gilbert, AZ

You know, it's really hard to say. I'm sure it was in the thousands though. Some things are hard to measure. For instance, if you look at my drawing then at my finished pool, I added a bench, removed a step, and extended the baja. making those changes cost me $0 because my subs didn't care...

Completed DIY Build in Gilbert, AZ

I swore to myself that I would post pictures as I went along, but l failed. Managing subs and doing all of my own cleanup proved a little too tiring, and now I am going back and sharing, and hope to give someone else the hope that I was given. I watched dozens of builds and if anything, I...

New DIY pool in Queen Creek AZ!

Ugh! Good luck with that one. Just think, if you lived but a few miles West, you'd only need a self-closing gate to pass inspection! Call or visit the City office where you got your permit. They may have some suggestions that will pass code. I asked my inspector when he did my pre-shotcrete...

IntellipH Pentair - pH control automatic or Semi-automatic

Re: IntellipH Pentair - pH control automatic or Semi-automat Following the advice of a number of experienced users here, I figured I'd run my pump a little longer at a lower speed to allow for enough chlorine generation and acid injection. I run 9-11am @ 2500rpm, 11a-5p @ 1100rpm, then 8p-10p...

IntellipH Pentair - pH control automatic or Semi-automatic

Re: IntellipH Pentair - pH control automatic or Semi-automat What strength acid are you using in your tank? I have a newly installed unit in a new pool and it is keeping up fine at about 30% running 10 hours/day. My installer filled with 35% strength undiluted acid. Nothing has melted (yet)...

Why are TFP's recommended levels so different than my equipment manufacturer's?

As a new pool owner myself, I questioned the same thing. From all of my reading in these forums (excellent information), I came to the conclusion that I needed to balance the numbers from the TFP method with the manufacturer's specs. I took all of the ranges and found where they crossed over...

New Owner/Builder Pool in Las Vegas

Good luck with this one - it will be fun to watch! I sat on the sidelines and read/watched quite a few builds before I started my own owner/builder pool here in AZ. Expect to work hard and you won't regret it. People always ask me how much $$ I saved. It's impossible to tell them because of...
