    Installing a SWG this year

We are now 2 months in with our SWG - why didn't we do this years ago? Life is so easy. Testing a couple of times a week, but water is crystal clear and testing #s never change. My only concern is ph stays at 7.8 - doesn't go up. Should I mess with trying to lower it? Only complaint is the...

    Installing a SWG this year

I have the TF 100 test kit, that I have used - and shown off - for several years. I have converted quite a few locals to the BBB method after they see our pool. - - - Updated - - - Good to know about the TA - I really didn't want to move the TA much, but the manual that came with the AquaRite...

After 15 years of having our pool, and thank God found this site and learned how to take care of it, we decided to install the Hayward Aquarite this year. Dry skin

Put the 3 solar salt bags in - you can get it at Lowe's for about $5 a bag of 40 pounds. You will be amazed at the difference your skin feels after you get out. You only have to add it once each season.

    Water softener, salt vs borates

    Adding CYA to skimmer

We had 0 CYA after doing a major refill this spring. Hubby, wanting to be helpful, :-D added the 3 lbs of HTH stabilizer directly, slowly into the skimmer. So I know we shouldn't backwash for a week, but will that do any harm? And can I assume that it is in the water now?

    Storing Bleach

Every year we lose the CYA totally over the winter? Not sure why but it's always zero at startup in the spring.

I've got another convert to BBB

We had some hail damage and some shingles blow off our roof in the Friday, June 29 storm. The insurance adjuster finally came this morning to take pictures, etc. When he saw our pool he said "Wow, your pool is so clear - it looks great! My pool doesn't look like this." I told him he needed to...

I've used the Magic Eraser to clean the top of the pool and the fiberglass steps and buddy seats - doesn't bother the pool chemicals at all.

Our FOXX pool was installed in 1999 and we have the Fiberstars 6008 fiberoptic lighting around the perimeter. Last year colors were dull. This year we put in a new liner - first time we turned on the lights, it ran for about 2 minutes then turned off - fan, colors, light and all. Checked fuse -...
