We have a 10,000 gal Inground vinyl and I added 5 40 lb bags of solar salt in June. It feels great!n

Put the 3 solar salt bags in - you can get it at Lowe's for about $5 a bag of 40 pounds. You will be amazed at the difference your skin feels after you get out. You only have to add it once each season.

We always add solar salt ($4/bag at Lowe's) to our pool. It makes the pool feel great and your skin doesn't feel dry when you get out. Do it!

We had 0 CYA after doing a major refill this spring. Hubby, wanting to be helpful, :-D added the 3 lbs of HTH stabilizer directly, slowly into the skimmer. So I know we shouldn't backwash for a week, but will that do any harm? And can I assume that it is in the water now?

Every year we lose the CYA totally over the winter? Not sure why but it's always zero at startup in the spring.

My hubby used a fiberglass repair kit in the automotive section at local hardware store - fixed the steps good - but now need to find good underwater paint for it. Anyone have suggestions for painting after the fix?

An update - decided old unit was too bad to repair, so bought a new unit 6008 with a remote. Wow what a difference. Love having the remote, too! Bought it off eBay.

I've used the Magic Eraser to clean the top of the pool and the fiberglass steps and buddy seats - doesn't bother the pool chemicals at all.

Bought at Digital Pool Thermometer at Menard's for $23. Has a remote station that lets me read the pool temp from my deck. Great little device for here in Ohio! (Was 90 degrees last Saturday - today it's about 65.)

Do it! You won't regret it a bit. We add about 4 bags of Solar Salt every year to our pool (inground vinyl 10,000 gallons) - get it at Lowe's. Kick it around to dissolve it.

Re: Ok everything is just about perfect with the BBB BUT.... We've done this for 2 years now - trust me it makes the water feel much softer and your skin feels a lot better after you get out! Use the solar salt - just dump it in and enjoy!

We obviously have a suction side leak. Has anyone ever tried the FIX-A-LEAK product? http://www.fixaleak.com/pools.html Seems like a good idea if it works.
