    Spa chemistry question

I have a 400 gal spa. I have been using the bromine for couple of years, but it looks like I was using it all wrong. I have read the "How do I use Bromine in my spa (or pool)?" and have couple of questions. Every time I fill the spa with water, I just added the Leisure Time bromine starter...

I bring it down to 7.2 and in couple of days it raises up to 7.8 and then I set it back to 7.2 and cycle...

Rebuilding the pool. Need help with start-up.

According to pool calculator and base on 16K gallons, I would nee 64oz of dry conditioner. That is 4lbs. I guess I would introduce it slowly. When do I adjust other parameters, such as, TA, Chlorine and Calcium Hardness?

Rebuilding the pool. Need help with start-up.

The job is done. Contractor, brushed and did an acid wash. The pool is being filled with water now. So, once it is full, I will turn on the equipment and let it run non-stop for 24 hours and monitor the pH so it is between 7.2 and 7.8. When do I need to add the conditioner?

I talked to the contractor and this is what he said. On Monday they will apply the pebble. On Tuesday they will do an acid wash and fill the pool with water. Then all I have to do is turn on the equipment and balance the water.

Update. The concrete is done, but because of rains the plastering will be done on Monday. I am freethinking now about the plaster and want to get the pebble surface. Is pebble start up any different than plaster start up?

I was going to use conditioner for CYA and bleach for Ch. Are you saying that it is better to use the tablets? After how many hours should I place the tablets or using the conditioner and bleach is OK? As I understand correctly: 1. The first two days I just need to monitor the pH and just have...

Thanks for the steps, but now I have more questions: 1. Do I need to adjust pH right after I fill the pool or later, if later then when? 2. How do I add CYA using a shock method? If I want to achieve a level of CYA 50. 3. Start-up step 6: "After the first 48 hours vacuum daily before brushing...

Thanks for all the replies. To end this madness can someone who has done it before provide steps of how to do it. Even though Pool School has the steps, they seem to be too vague and I see a lot of contradictions in this post. Some say add sequestrant, other say it is not necessary. Some say...

Once I fill the pool with water, when do I need to adjust TA to 80-100 ppm, then CH to 200-400 ppm, and finally pH to 7.6? Is it right a way or after running the pump for a week? Will I need to use something like this for brushing: http://www.lesliespool.com/browse/Home/ ... 20/I/20881...
