    Walmart Bleach- Concentrated vs Cleaning

I went to WM yesterday looking for bleach and they only had a few old bottles of the Cleaning (8.25%) on the shelf. Everything else was this new Concentrated bottle ( listed as 6%). The price on each was 2.94 per bottle. Looks like I will have to search out a new source for bleach or go to their...

    Algae Keeps Returning

I was in the pool today as the landscaper for the property behind me was working. I now know what some of the stuff in my pool is. Billowing clouds of dust every time he went by leaving a very nice coating a stuff on my pool surface. I did find some algae growing in the foam on my weir door. It...

    Algae Keeps Returning

We get the same kind of accumulation. Small brown collections - like a snow drift. When I brush I can see clouds of stuff kicked up. The water tests fine - no CC - ever. It is almost like the water is in layers and near the bottom there is not alot of movement. I find that when I brush daily it...

10% pool bleach at Wal-Mart - Was it worth it?

I saw this 10% at WM and bought it. That is what I started the summer on. Once we started swimming the family was saying that their skin felt dry. I checked PH, chlorine, and TA levels and all where right in line. The bleach source was the only thing different. I used up what I had and went back...

    CYA Went Up! How???

When i leave the pool for an extended period of time I throw some tabs in a floater. The CYA gain isn't going to be enough to impact anything.

    Pump or actually filter question

I think I already know the answer to this. I have an above ground pool. In Texas we have been getting a little rain lately (last weekend was 10") the skies opened up again last night. Lots of pumping water to waste (sorry California if I could get it to you I would). This morning I am standing...

Great readings but always something collecting on the bottom

Yeah the light and the weir were both clear.

Great readings but always something collecting on the bottom

First off this has been a great summer - first full summer with the pool and this method makes it easy to maintain. With that being said we always had some small accumulation of what looked like dead algae each day. The numbers were perfect always within spec. In the last week or two I made a...

    Thank you TFP

Last year we had a green Baquacil pool and very little swimming. Made the conversion several months ago and are really enjoying the pool. 100 degree days feel different now. Cooling clear water!

    Plumbing Upgrade

All of our water pathways to and from the pump and filter are those ribbed hoses that came with the original system. The line from the filter to the pool tends to move around as the water flows through it. That movement has now caused a small leak. It is time to upgrade. It looks like 1 1/2...

    drop in steps keep floating

The pockets in the back are perfectly sized for pavers and in the instruction sheet it mentions pavers can be used to prevent floating.

    drop in steps keep floating

I have the same ladder. You can add standard sidewalk pavers in the pockets in the back. I have four in mine. No floating here.

Does anyone know what this is?

What is your chlorine source? You aren't using an easy pour bleach are you?

    Help Needed Choosing Bleach

I use the great value but not the easy pour variety. This is a Walmart brand by the way. Be sure to check their pool area. They have 10% over there that is even cheaper.

Oh where oh where did my CYA go?

I actually know the answer to the question. We have had a little bit of rain in Texas and that led to lots of pumping water off. The pool looks great. I was noticing that my chlorine consumption was a bit higher than usual. I ran a CYA test today after I saw a 4 ppm loss. My CYA was down around...

    Pool Blaster Max

I finally pulled the trigger on the pool blaster max. I have been looking for something that I could easily stick in the pool and suck up that nuisance stuff on the bottom with out going through the hose dance. It arrived today. I gave it several hours to charge. I turned it on an stuck it in...

Annoying "dirt" on pool floor HELP!

I have similar patches that brush away and resettle. Tests show no signs of cc so the water is great. I did this hose trick this morning. We will see if it keeps them from coming back.

Could I be doing this right?

It takes a few days (a week maybe) for CYA to move - you definitely want to sneak up on that number. This is exactly what you want to see in regards to FC, a value in CC would indicate that something is growing. Yes the pump should be running for at least 30 minutes for a chem add. You want them...

Chlorine level - contradicting info on site

I still consider myself a newbie at this pool care stuff. Have had the pool since last June - started out Baq then converted. I have done more than my fair share of testing. To start out my water is fabulous. I have some junk at the bottom (leaves and what appears to be dirt - puffs when brushed...

My user name says it all!

Ok everyone he found the balls in the bottom of his swamp. That proves is really is following the instructions. Someone needs to recover the balls so we can use them in the next swamp. Just kidding - of course.

Is Liquid Chlorine a viable option with extreme heat?

Yeah I am staying above the minimum so no worries there. I still add everyday. I just don't test like crazy. It would different if I had a drop test that would measure chl above 5. At my CYA my chlorine zone is (4 - 8). Since the drop test only goes to 5 it doesn't do me a whole lot of good. I...

Is Liquid Chlorine a viable option with extreme heat?

I am going to go off script here just a bit. I am sure someone will set me straight if I am out of bounds. I do not check my chlorine every day. There I said it. I did for a while and established what my pool consumes on a daily basis. I then take that number (lets say 2.5ppm per day) and just...

For any doubters and people on the fence with TFPC......

Yep I am a huge fan of the site as well. I didn't read anything before the pool went in and completely followed their recommendations. They led me down the Baqaucil rabbit hole so I know exactly what a $1000 feels like and still a green pool. I did the conversion with the help on here. My pool...
