June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

Google knows all... there are lots of free programs, as I mentioned above. Another one that you might want to try is "Gimp" which is available here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ ...You can download it from that site (click "show other downloads") for pretty much every operating system out...

June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

Oh boy, an OS war! ...I think there are better places to do that. The truth is that every OS has a decent selection of free programs that can do this, but more importantly didn't Jason ask that this not be done as clean photos are preferred?

    Problems with tap water?

That is fascinating... Fortunately I do have a mesh cover and we opened this spring to a water level right at the mid marker on the skimmer... Yours seems to be substantially worse than ours - our pH is 7.2 which makes for an interesting time adjusting things back. You actually have it "easier"...

    Problems with tap water?

I have recently been combatting a surge in my TA levels that brings up an interesting question. (or series of them, maybe...) For the first half of the season I had everything in balance and then my pool suddenly developed a leak. While dealing with that I had to add new water several times and...

    Soon to be ex-pool owner?

Thanks, Casey! We are having the strangest summer I can ever remember here. A few weeks ago we had temps in the high 90s every day for nearly two weeks. The forecast high for this Friday is 67 degrees and no rain. What is up with that? I have to say that it is nice to not have to run...

    Soon to be ex-pool owner?

Just an update to anyone that followed this thread and is anxiously ( :!: ) waiting for a conclusion to the story... The problem turned out to be the seal behind the skimmer cover plate and I was able to fix it!. It seems that mine was constructed of some sort of cork type material...

    Soon to be ex-pool owner?

I did read that... thank you! The current update is actually interesting. The rate of loss is slowing. From a starting point Sunday night with the water level at the mid point mark on the skimmer, the water level dropped a bit more than an inch within 12 hours. Last night, another 12 hours...

    Soon to be ex-pool owner?

Yesterday evening I filled the pool to the mid point on the skimmer and started a bucket test. After doing my normal routine of checking the normal stuff I left it to circulate as usual then powered off the pump around 10:00pm. This morning the bucket level had not changed any amount that...

    Soon to be ex-pool owner?

Hello everyone, At the moment I am still hoping for some crazy solution, but I fear that stupidity just might have cost me my pool. If anyone here has some hope to offer I am really in the mood for some right now. The quick version is that my pool appears to be leaking and I am not yet quite...

June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

I have to say that I think it is oddly entertaining that no one seems to own any clorox... The night pictures are super hard to get decent images of. Some of the colors under long exposures just look like some sort of sickly water... My camera simply can't image the light show in all of its...

    TF 100 Test kit arrived

Wow... I can understand being annoyed watching the price go up, but I wish I had a source like that. In any case I'll stop hijacking this thread now so it can get back to regular programming.

    TF 100 Test kit arrived

Where do you buy 10% for around $1 per gallon? That is still close to 1/3 the price that I have to pay.

    TF 100 Test kit arrived

I assume, then that the $7.06 total that you previously stated is incorrect? Because if it is will you PLEASE sell me some of your bleach? :) I have been following this thread because I have been watching mine trying to figure out how much is "correct" as well. As it turns out I use round...

June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

Thank you... that helps a lot. So here is a continuing illustration. This is my equipment pad, shown from the side where you can't see the pumps. The photo is not cluttered, but you also can't see a bunch of the equipment. Is this a case where more is better or is this what you are looking for?

June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

Not trying to be greedy on the picture selection, I really didn't expect that many of my pictures to be used! That said, I still want to win! :-D I just noticed that you are looking for a picture of a booster pump. I did include this one in my original batch, but it was difficult to get a shot...

June contest! Submit photos for the visual encyclopedia!

I have been searching for a picture of my mesh cover installed, but this is the best I have found so far. It does demonstrate some of the cover's strength though!

How do you post more than 3 photos per message? ...I would wait for an answer, but I am on a roll. I hope that I am not doing something annoying here.

The computer I am holding doesn't happen to have a decent way to resize that far down easily...I hope what it did do doesn't mess them up too much! If you like any of these but need a better shot, just let me know![attachment=0]Picture 002.jpg

    Should I worry about CH?

Thanks for the info! I agree that 3 ppm is not too low "as long as..." but that is their max threshold. You are supposed to hold levels at 0.5...

    Should I worry about CH?

Thanks for the info... that helped a lot. The winterizing cap does not take the place of the cartridge. That blue area which looks like it might be a canister is simply a outer cover that does not transport any water. When the cartridge is removed you actually expose the hole in the pvc that...

    Should I worry about CH?

Now I don't know what to do...those cartridges can't be removed without cutting the PVC and removing the entire device. The cartridge and the cover are one piece. It looks like I have three options: 1) Leave it alone and hope that it was already used up anyway 2) Remove the cartridge and empty...

    Should I worry about CH?

I think you are right... "silver and copper" ... ugh. That would be a best guess to answer the cause of the stains then, wouldn't it? Ok, any advice other than to remove the cartridge for now?

    Should I worry about CH?

I think some sort of mineral dispenser might be right.... the section under that cap at the top contains a cartridge that looks a lot like a carbon type water filter that you might have on drinking water lines. I guessed that carbon filters for pools are not really practical though. I am going...
