How long should the pump run?

Ok. Thanks for all the info! I'll start by telling him to have it run for a bit in the a.m., and again in the p.m.. Then look into getting some form of filtration going. Not sure if filtering will be possible, so changing the water out when needed may be the only solution to keep it looking...

How long should the pump run?

Sorry about that. Guess I should have added why I was asking. :hammer: posting.php?mode=reply&f=11&t=55170# I was just wondering if the circulation helps at all in preventing algae growth (besides just keeping the chems at the proper levels). ... and if it does in a fountain like this...

How long should the pump run?

Hi there- I'm back with a quick Q for a friend of mine who owns a fountain in his new home. (300 gallons). Just wondering how long the pump should run per day? There is no filter on the pump. The water gets about 6-7 hours of sun. Current readings are; FC = 7-8 pH = 7.2 TA = 60-70 CYA = 90...

    Green water fountain

Hi everyone, I'm helping out my brother-in-law with a fountain he has inherited in his new home. (8'x5'x 1 ft Deep). They just moved in, and it's been neglected for months, so needless to say it is green pea soup. I calculated that it has 300 gallons. Told him to add 1 cup of bleach in...

    Does R-0013 expire?

Hi everyone- I usually test my own water, but just for grins I took a sample to my local pool store and they used their "electronic analysis machine" to test it. The CYA reading from their test came back at "19," however when I've been checking on my own (about once a month) with the R-0013...

Confused with Shocking and when to stop

Thanks again everyone! Finally did it!!! Less than a 1ppm drop last night. The FC is holding great! CC=0. The pH is up a bit though (7.8). Is that just a false reading because the FC is higher from shocking? Should I adjust now with acid, or wait til my FC drops to *normal* levels ? This...

Confused with Shocking and when to stop

Thanks for all the info everyone! Super helpful. Think I'm finally understanding. Ok, will continue shocking. FC dropped about 3ppm from last night, so I added more bleach this morn to bring back up to 16, and will continue to monitor. Thanks again. Travis.

Confused with Shocking and when to stop

Hi everyone! I've been shocking for the past two days. I had a small area of green algae growing near the steps. Otherwise water is clean and clear. I brought the FC up to shock level (16) and have been trying to hold it there by adding bleach every few hours... Seems to be pretty difficult to...

Thanks for the quick reply Dave ! aaah ... bummer. I was hoping for the added convenience. Guess I'll have to stick with manually adding the bleach. : ( Travis.

Liquidator OK to use with copper pipes?

Hi everyone! Just curious if anyone knows if the Liquidator is safe to use in-line with [older] copper pipes? - Or is it not advised. I'm considering getting one (hope so), but don't want to harm the equipment. Currently, all of the equipment and pipes are in near-perfect and functioning...

strange FC readings during shock treatment

Hi everyone, First time post here. I'm following all the steps for shocking with bleach. Have a 16,000 gallon inground Pebble Tech pool and have used liquid bleach solely (with an occasional trichlor tab or two and polyquat) for about 5+ yrs now. Usually keep a close eye on the readings...
