Between what two points are seeing voltage? Pictures? But also agree with @JamesW . This isn't really something you should troubleshoot with the help of people on the internet. Call a professional. This is serious stuff.

    Level Clay Lawn?

Anyone know anything about Trouble Free Lawn? My yard is somewhat un-even with small ruts and divots. My understanding is that a common way of leveling is to use sand. But my soil is heavy on the clay side and have always heard to never mix sand in with clay. Would a small top layer if sand...

    Did I Damage My SWCG

I usually remove my SWCG late fall when the water temp drops below its operating limits. This year, I was lazy. I just left it in and chlorinated the pool manually. Now that the weather is about to start turning for us soon, I have begun to think about it. Should I have removed it? We don't...

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

Yes. If I recall correctly, your last CYA measurement was 50. So your SLAM FC target is 20. Something organic is in your pool and consuming the FC. You are on the right track. Is your pool covered? If so, exposing it to sunlight will help burn off the combined chlorine.

    Chlorine smell

Most people find themselves here needing to SLAM because of algae. Clearing the pee should be a lot easier than algae. But make sure you keep the FC at SLAM leves (based on your CYA level ). Note that pee has ammonia. Ammonia will consume a lot of chlorine. If your FC drops too low, you...

    Chlorine smell

There is a good chance of pee... And yes, the chlorine smell is the smell of pee breaking down. You need to SLAM the pool. Read up on the process here. You will need a good home test kit. good home test kit. It is super important that you know both your CYA level and FC level.

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

How are you testing? Do you have one of the recommended test kits? Or are you relying on the pool store? You can't do a proper SLAM without your own test kit.

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

If water is cheap in your area, no big deal. But I'm not convinced it is necessary. Look at mdragger88's recommendation from Saturday. Focus on one thing at a time. I fear anything else is just going to cost you time and money.

I would try to solve just one issue at a time for right now. Too many variables are changing. I suspect the "pink stuff" might be part of the problem.

    water test

I'm not sure what this means. Range of what? This is way too low especially if your CYA really is 137 I'm skeptical. If your CYA really is 100+, a partial drain and re-fill might be called for. But I have a feeling you are on the path to spending lots of $$ and have a lot of heartache...

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

Are you sure it is iron? There is an citric/ascorbic acid test that might help prove it one way or another. This is one of the very few times it might be good to go to the pool store for water testing.

How and why did you find TFP?

Are there anymore of those coffee mugs laying around?
  16. Shirker

Is a main pool drain necessary ?

Agreed! Pools with a main drain are required to have two now (to prevent someone from getting suctioned to it). So a flat drain should be plenty safe, right?

How and why did you find TFP?

If I recall correctly, I had just installed a new above ground pool but did not have power to the pump yet (waiting on a trencher). I got advise on how to keep my pool from turning green while waiting on power. It was nice to have found this site before I as fully up and running and set in my...

Corner problem 24ft x 12ft Bestway above ground pool

That is not concerning to me. I would be more concerned if the wrinkle went all the way down as it might put a lot of stress on the liner. Does the user manual discuss this at all?

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

After a little Googling, this is now my suspect #1. You are using this product because of rust/iron stains? If so, that is a lot of work! I would focus on reducing the iron, then very carefully keep an eye on your ph and chlorine levels. Swings in ph and fc can cause iron to come out of...

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

You most likely do not need this. There are lots of great article/posts here about treating iron stains. While this could be some sort of bacteria bio film, it doesn't really look like it to me. Does it feel slippery? Does it wipe away easily? Having your own kit puts you well ahead on...

Pool just installed by company. Not sure its level enough

Agreed. If you have any power to do so, I would have them come back out and fix it. Also note that once a pool has been filled, you risk ruining the liner if you drain it 100% so that cost might factor in too. It's frustrating.

    RoBot maintenance.

I'm on my third season with my Maytronics. It lives in the pool about 80% of the time year-round. Last year, it died. The pool store sent it off to be repaired under warranty (water in the motor). This year it died again. Not sure the exact cause this time but the pool store was able to get...

    SWG, Too High or Off

Why? You do have a variable speed pump, right? If not, a VS will save you a lot of electricity. They pretty much all have timers already built in and/or have the ability to plug into an automation center.. If your pump runs 24/7, then your only knob to turn is on your SWCG. A pump timer...

Getting pool installed very soon, help me not screw up please?

I'm not familiar with your SWCG. Mine does not have a tube. But do check the manual. The flow sensor orientation is usually important. Could cause an explosion/fire.

Getting pool installed very soon, help me not screw up please?

How did you go about choosing your speeds? I don't have any water features (no misters, fountains, spillovers, or bubblers). I only need to run the pump fast enough to trigger the flow sensor on my SWCG which needs about 850 RPM. Just for a little wiggle room, I have my pump set at 900 RPM...
