    Kreepy Krawly

My kreepy krawly does a GREAT job on 1/2 of the pool, the deep end. The shallow end appears to never be touched. Anyone have any ideas or little hints that will make it clean the entire pool? Without doing the shallow end it is pointless to use the thing at all. if not, I have a kreepy krawly...

    Priming uphill pump

My pump is up a hill from my pool approx 20 feet away, 6 feet higher than the pool itself. I have only had the pool 2 yrs and the first year I had it opened by someone else. Is there a secret to getting a pump primed in this configuration? When opening the pool, should I attempt to fill the...

    Iron Stains

Our water contains a ton of iron so I am constantly adding sequestrant to prevent and ascorbic acid to remove stains. My question is this, the metal sequestrant wraps the iron and keeps the iron disolved. I continue to add iron to my pool every time that I add water.. How do I get this iron...

    cheap sequesterant

Poolio, maybe you should switch to decaf Often those with money are constantly being frugal, those without money spend like there's no tomorrow wanting to portray something that they are not. You don't always get what you pay for 'nuff said. My simple question was whether or not there was an...

    cheap sequesterant

All things being equal, what's everyone's choice for a cheap metal sequestrant? I use it often as our water has a ton of iron in it. It would be great to find a place online to get it on the cheap. There seems to be common household equivalants to just about everything, I guess that's no so...

    Grass on clay

so not much can be done then? I don't mind watering the area while it is germinating but I can't water the whole yard after the grass takes off. I had hoped that there would be a drought resistent grass that would look decent

    long term adding muriatic acid?

I understand that this is some nasty stuff, I have started using it instead of the dry acid based on folks on this forums recommendations to reduce my ph every 3-4 days. Are there any known problems with long term use?

    Grass on clay

They had to build my yard up quite a bit when they put in my pool and it seems that I have very little topsoil, then clay on top of gravel around my pool. I have put approx 140 pounds of ky bluegrass seed down and it takes off after a few weeks only to die after 10 -15 days. I'm assuming it's...

    Calcium for a Vinyl liner?

I may be wrong but the BBB method doesn't have anything to do with calcium, BBB is sanitation / PH Even using BBB method you will still need to add certain chemicals to your pool i.e. Calcium, Metal Sequesterant, Stabilizer, etc. The calcium prevents your liner from becoming brittle I believe. Goldline controls

Thanks for the replies, the outdoor temp is reading a good 10-12 degrees over what a normal outdoor thermometer reads.. It's really not a huge issue but it is kindof annoying. I will look when I get home for the temp probe and see if I can find it. 'is it just a small wire attached to some...

NEWS ALERT! Calcium Keeps Vinyl Liner From Drying Out...

I was pool stored into buying calcium for my fiberglass pool because I was told that it would etch the fiberglass if I didn't have it in there. My calcium was zero and they sold me on buying a 20 pound bag.. I agree, getting people to buy stuff they don't need is wrong and they need to be...

    Sealing concrete

I have concrete cantilever coping which hangs over the edge 2" or so. My wan't sealed when the pool was put in and I haven't a clue about concrete whatsoever. Does it need to be sealed? Will it erode away in a few years from all the splashing water and waves when jumping in? If so can anyone...

    Pool Jets

I have read that all the jets are to point in the same direction for best circulation. Is this true? with a rectangle pool I have 2 jets on a short edge and 1 on a long edge directly accross from the skimmer, they all just point to the middle of the pool. Mike

    Our Pool

Yeah, we get lots of critters in the pool. Geese, snakes, and frogs. The deer have gotten a drink from it but the oddest one was a mole, I never would have guessed that moles could swim but he was having quite a good time! As for the stairs, prior there was nothing there and the land is a...

    Our Pool

Yes we are very rural. There are no neighborhood kids to speak of. Our house is surrounded by woods so if you are in our back yard, you pretty much need to be invited! As for the fence, We have drilled and drilled and continue to drill my youngest (4) about the dangers of the pool. She...
