Save-T II Pool Cover won't open or close completely

My Save-T II Pool Cover won't open or close completely. The cover always closes and leaves a 1.5 ft opening at steps and when the cover is opened it leaves approximately 1.5 ft of the cover extended. I have adjusted the cover ropes to square the cover for equal travel. I have searched the forum...

    Anvil?

I'm here at Pinal. Wow, it is hot. After a day like today, I would much rather be in my pool than swinging a hammer. I have come to the conclusion, most hobbies are seasonal. - - - Updated - - - Indubatibly, $3-5/lb used and $8-10/lb new. Avoid the discount hardware store varieties.

    Anvil?

Jason, I've been away. I was at Pinal Airpark in Feb/Mar. Getting ready to go back on 20th. Blacksmithing is not as easy as I thought.

    Anvil?

I went to visit a former neighbor yesterday. This 96 y.o.gentleman has about 15 acres covered with wide varieties of scrap, salvage and any thing else you can imagine. I got the RR track and a brake drum for the forge. I will return at a later time to get a few things to build the hearth table...

    Anvil?

I know about the high prices and I'm considering the RR track option. I hadn't thought of the flea markets, good call. I'm already reading other forums. This was a shout out to this forum, because everyone here has been reliable in the past. Thanks.

Not closing pool - Freeze question

I'm there right now. We bought our home with an IG pool and the previous owner has been great about helping with the stuff he built or installed, which is basically everything. In exchange, I'm letting him store a lot of stuff in the out buildings until he gets his new place finished. Not a bad...

    Anvil?

I'm kind of stuck in the Kansas region, but I could travel with in a day's drive. I'm not sure if this is really something I want to sink a bunch of money into a hobby I may not take too. Kind of like a boat or an airplane. I've been there with both. I guess, I'm looking for advice.

    Anvil?

I'm developing an interest in small time black smithing. Mainly just for personal satisfaction. Does anyone out there have a similar interest? I'm looking for some starter tools. Perhaps a ~200# forged anvil and etc. Mark

There are some sick pools out there

I had the great fortune to fly from Salina, KS to Fayetteville, AR to Memphis, TN and finally into Huntsville, AL today. And let me tell you, there are some nice pools out there but there are also some really sick pools too. From 500' to 1000' AGL I can see a lot. I can only imagine the healthy...

    Slideshow

I'm looking for a slide for next season. Any recommendations? Standard rectangle pool. The property is what makes my place, not the pool. I would have to do a google aerial shot for the slide show.

First Test...before I take over from the Pool Guy...

Thanks. Static elec was one of my two thoughts. The other was, it gives the reagent time to blend (just something to do between drops).

First Test...before I take over from the Pool Guy...

Why do we wipe the tip? I do it because the instructions say to. It's very tedious with a high TA. My daughter likes to help count the drops and sometimes we skip around 8, 21, 13 and etc. I have a couple of theories, but I won't say them so as to prevent a possible contamination of the truth...

dealing with people wanting to use your pool

http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/83730-Oh-God-he-s-putting-BLEACH-in-the-pool Start using these reasons when they ask, "it's for their safety, not your's". Btw, it costs a 30 pack to get into my pool and I live 20 minutes from town, so I don't get many visitors.

    Trying to convince others...Its tough

Cut them down yourself. I cleared an 2 acre with a chain saw and a 12-pack. Manual labor does an American good.

Leak where pump connects to leaf basket

How important is $$$ vs time? I'll take time over dollars most of the time. In my line of work, time can equal lives or mission success. But in private life, it gets difficult to decide. What is this project worth to you? That seams to be the one variable not addressed on TFP (not being...

    Please help me!!! Im defeated!

Keep going, don't stop. Yes, initially you're going to dump a little $$$. However, do not put yourself in a financial hardship to make this pool perfect. It owes you, you don't owe it. It is a very simple philosophy, just do it. Bleach cures a lot of problems and gets you to a manageable...

    Please help me!!! Im defeated!

I'm just gonna save this advice for the future. Most importantly, take a breath. As with any emergency procedure, think about it. Un do the last thing you did. Evaluate the situation, make a decision, but be open to ideas. Basic troubleshooting. You might make an erroneous decision but it will...

Leak where pump connects to leaf basket

You can do it. Pride in ownership as my HD friends say. Don't pay for what you can do yourself, or find a skilled buddy to help "for beer".

Leak where pump connects to leaf basket

One other suggestion. Use a rubber mallet, and lightly tap the band in various locations as you tighten. There is probably a torque specification, but I doubt you have a torque wrench and I didn't use one. I just tapped until it felt right, based upon my superb mechanical skills and judgement...

Leak where pump connects to leaf basket

Ask yourself "how much seepage is acceptable?" I replaced my seal, because it leaked. Now it seeps. I accept that because all it does, is water a part of my lawn. If it floods your basement, that's a different story. Similar to what I may have dealt with a month ago. I replaced the seal as...

Leak where pump connects to leaf basket

Look for a crack. Isolate the area by shutting off the valves. Try using a colored dye and see where it seaps out. Basically a home brew version of non destructive testing. I don't have a lot of pool experience but I have dealt with several cracks in my job. They're usually in a seam area or...

are there more economical ways to purchase bleach than by the gallon

The rising pH is happening, but not at an alarming rate. I can control it with MA. Sorry about the association of chlorine and TA. I had two thoughts at the same time while typing. My cya is on the high side @55ish. That's what requires me to use more chlorine. I'm slowly adjusting cya by...

I have too many responsibilities to get a bike. I want to get as many years in retirement as I put in. I need to live to 91 to achieve that goal. Plus I still have babies in the house.

are there more economical ways to purchase bleach than by the gallon

After some study and thought, if high TA raises pH over time, why would I need to do things (aerate and etc.) to raise pH? I've been thru pool school and 201 but I just don't get it. Please explain. Has anyone ever done a flow chart or a flashy PowerPoint (I'm Army, kinda slow) explaining the...

    Probably gonna get bumped

Btw, did I mention I sleep with a CFII/ATP/MEI (wife) and I got FW ratings too. Sold my plane and boat. Talk about something using up $$$ faster than a pool. Now she wants horses. It's justified though, I got 5 chickens, 2 calves, a kegerator and a tractor. Cut me and you get benjamins instead...
