Could use some help with new pump selection for solar panels.

Top of my panels are 33 feet above the pad, 1.5 horse variable speed pump handles it fine at less than full power.

Looking for a recommendation on the solar pool heater system for Burlingame, CA

I have had this product installed for 4 or 5 years now, very happy with it. I did the installation myself.

Concerns about high pressure in flat-panel solar heaters

The way I do it is to slowly close the diverter a bit at a time and wait 30 seconds or so between moves. At some point the panels will fill, the vac release will close and water comes rushing down the line returning to the pool. From that point observe the pool, if there are still some air in...

    Suntouch issue

Good question. I don't think so but I'll have to check the temps. I did have that motors bearings changed out at the end of last year. However, I had swapped in a different 50% more powerful pump last year and it was doing expectly the same thing.

    Suntouch issue

No, the solar valve remains on with the pump cycling off for a 1/2 minute or so. Doesn't matter if the valve is open or closed either.

    Suntouch issue

I have what I think is an issue with my suntouch controller which I believe began last year. The controller is programmed to run the pump X # of hours per day, turn on the solar valve when heat is available on the roof and finally freeze guard is ON although now we are basically past the danger...

A little shade was called for

When I was doing some research for this project I found very little information so I thought I'd post a few pics and information We've got a 20*20 foot concrete patio off the back of our house on the way to a small in ground pool (12*24). The patio is quite nice but basically unusable in the...

Solar Heaters, are they worth it?

Yes well, I'm not in California <g>. Water loss? OK, I get a metered charge twice a year - maybe $80 total but I suspect most of that is the lawn. @ 10 cents a kilowatt I don't worry about the electric much either ;).

Solar Heaters, are they worth it?

Water went from 58 to 66 today, not too warm as far as air temp goes and LOTS of wind but it was sunny.

Solar Heaters, are they worth it?

Just opened my pool over the weekend, let you know how it goes  I installed this array a couple years ago, this will be my third season. I'm in the same general area as you (southern MD), last year I opened at the end of April closed the end of September. I do not expect to get in too...

Solar vs Heat Siphon. Cost considerations, need advice

I think that could work well. I've got the solar, no heatpump. I beleive there is a mode in my suntouch controller that let's it select solar if there is sun of heatpump if the roof sensor is not hot enough. You also need to remember the temp loss overnight and on cloudy days. This past month...

    Solar heater

Just a little followup after the first winter. One of the reasons for doing the panels was to extend the swimming season, here in MD without panels memorial day weekend is the normal start of the season. I was hoping for early to mid April with the panels but this year April has been unusually...

    PB Quote - Thoughts??

If that includes the various vat type taxes you pay in Canada that's a fair price IMHO. The specs listed look excellent for things like backfill, plumbing and concrete work.

Only Want to Automate the Valve Acuators

Yes. You need a relay for the light. You could do the pump too, up to 3 relays will fit the box.

    New baby - need fence?

I did the aluminum fence around our pool myself 3 summers ago. Purchased the fence over the internet, hired a company to core drill the holes then I did the install and concreting myself.

Maybe 1 more coat of paint? Took about a 1/2 hour or so, it was 104 on the roof sensor when I went up the ladder, 125 when I came down
