    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

I didnt even realize there were covers besides these type. I have bought varying levels over the years (deluxe, supreme, whatever they call it). There are actual water-tight ones? I figured thats what I was always buying since thats what it says in the description. How do I know it is truly...

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

An update-2 weeks since closing and the pool has lost ZERO water. So there are NO LEAKS. The winch worked perfect as always, so I have idea what the fuss about that is about. Would love to get back to my original question about if I am losing water due to pumping water off of the cover.

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

We use 2 different things to keep our cover on snugly over the winter. This thread isn't going the way I hoped.

Not sure where you are going with that? Are you saying the pool covers are no good? If so wouldnt everyone have this issue?

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

If there are any other ideas/opinions (or if this is normal), I am all ears. We are closing in a few days for the season.

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

Right, but if there was a leak, it would happen when the pool is open also. Let's just assume for this question there is no leak in the pool. Just got a new liner, so if it happens again this winter, then we are 100% on that. I just hate that I lose water for no reason. And I also posted the...

Huh? I don't want to drain it is the point I was going for unless I misread what you asked?

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

The water level drains WAY BELOW the skimmer mouth level so it must be something beyond that

    Winter Cover and Water Accumulation

Hello All, Question about something I see each year when I close my pool/throughout the winter. Each year I get a new cover (mid range, not the cheapie, not the super deluxe) and I pump the rain water off every couple weeks with a submersible pump made for this specifically. When I close the...

Question about what to do while pool is filling after liner install

Just checked the water-there is "some" chlorine in it. It did get more clear when I hit it with one drop. Probably not quite .5, but there is something

Question about what to do while pool is filling after liner install

Question about what to do while pool is filling after liner install

Hello Everyone, Finally bit the bullet and got a new liner. Now the pool is filling and will likely take 2-3 days to fill up. In the meantime before the level gets to the skimmer where I can turn on the filter and circulate, it occurs to me that the water is just kind of "sitting there" and is...

In the process of SLAMming. I don't think my sand filter is working.

Does it look like this? (picture attached). It sounds like you and I have have the same exact pain. I have something similar to what you are describing-levels are perfect, pool is crystal clear, but after I run the filter for 30 mins or more, I get this stuff. Has been happening for a couple...

Closing steps first season using TFPs

Great thanks-I'll let it drift down to about 6 (CYA between 30-40) and then add poly 60 and let it circulate for about an hour @ajw22 Since you are in NJ also, are you closing soon? I assume your water cant be down to 60 or so yet-mine is still 70

Getting a winter cover to last longer

Do you let the chlorine level drift back down before closing or close it at/near SLAM level?

Getting a winter cover to last longer

What in the world do you do to get your above ground winter cover to last more than 1 season? I always buy the "Best" cover (thickest, best quality) of the kinds offered. Every year when I take it off to open the pool, I hold it up to the light and can see pin holes of light/porous through it...

Closing steps first season using TFPs

Hello All, Ok so this was my first full season using TFP, so I would kind of like to get the closing right also. I have read the pool school closing article and some closing threads on here. Here is what I normally do (with some questions sprinkled it), want to see if I am missing anything here...

    Frustrated while SLAMing

I think i might be on double secret probation

    Frustrated while SLAMing

Update-tested pool at night was 5.5 tonight with 0 CC. So it only lost 2 FC is 24 hours. Having trouble believing this is organic with that result. But i dont know why this is in the pool then

    Frustrated while SLAMing

How would i even clean that? I took it off of the pool on purpose while SLAMing as I thought that the high FC levels could make it fall apart. If I did this whole process for nothing-ugh. It has a rip in it anyway so we are throwing it out when we close the pool.

    Frustrated while SLAMing

So, the stuff is back. I haven't brushed the pool in a few days (but assume you aren't supposed to have to brush every day when not SLAMing) and the solar cover was on. I just took a peak underneath and see plenty of it again. Last night, I checked the FC and it was 7.5. The last time I added...

    Frustrated while SLAMing

A little update-the last time I added any liquid chlorine was monday night. Yesterday I didn;t even test it because I knew I wasn't going to drop from 20 down under 6 in one day. So I tested tonight 48 hours later and am still getting a reading of 14 (it was cloudy/rainy all day today). Sure I...

    Frustrated while SLAMing

Vacuumed and brushed about an hour ago. Backwashed also even though i backwashed after vacuuming yesterday (i normally dont like to backwash that often but in case any of the dead stuff was going to recirculate i wanted to blow it out) So i will check in a couple hours and see-thats plenty of...

    Frustrated while SLAMing

Going outside to vacuum now. If that stuff comes back, i'll report that-dont know what the next step would be if it does is it normal to have to SLAM every year? I know pool school recommends SLAMing for opening and closing, but can i expect most (or every) year, this process will be necessary...
