I would also think that 1 1/2" or 2" schedule 40 PVC would be a good choice and I'd bury it to and from the house. What size tubing are the hookups on the panels, just keep it close? I would recommend installing a check valve on the way up the house so the water flows and drains in the right...

One thing to consider if you're going to use a saltwater generator, I read somewhere on here that they can damage some of the common flagstones used here. If you plan on flagstone coping you should do a search.

Excellent, I will leave the DE out of my filter as well regardless of what the manual says. I was hesitant to add 4 pounds of DE to my cartridge filter anyway. I think I will try the sock though.

I read the manual that came with my Pentair 520 cartridge filter and they said to add DE to the skimmer as well. I didn't but maybe I should. I wonder what "first time operation" means, I've been operating for 2 days now.
