    Pool Ladder Question

The ladder caps should be more rubberish than plastic, and no, it shouldn't harm your liner... that is how the ladders work.

Replace flex hose from pump to filter

I would definitely recommend using a cleaning solvent, followed by primer- then glue.

    Equipment Advice /Moving Equipment Pad

Just wanted to close out this thread by providing pics of the completed project and expressing my thanks to all who provided assistance, especially simicrintz. He was nice enough to respond to several PM's, and steered me to the Pentair cartridge filter which is working great... and it is so...

    Equipment Advice /Moving Equipment Pad

Thank you Jason and Simicrintz- I Appreciate the help. I will change the pump to a 2 speed (WFDS-4), and leave the filter as a Pentair FNS Plus – 48. I have heard that the Flex pipe is Crud and that termites like it(?) so planned to go with schedule 40 PVP. Is it safe to assume that if I dig...

    Equipment Advice /Moving Equipment Pad

My wife and I purchased our house 3 years ago, and it came with a pool that is roughly 20yrs old. Last year we replaced the liner and purchased a new safety cover. This year, it is time to replace the pump and filter. I have some specific questions related to the equipment, pad location, and...

    Preventing Metal Stains - Advice/Clarification?

Thanks VaEquestrian- That is how I will proceed. As a new fill, I expect the chlorine will be next to nil. I'll make sure the PH is in the low 7's before pouring in the Metal Magic. Do you usually let the pump run on circulate for a while after you use the MM, or is filtering it right away the...

    Preventing Metal Stains - Advice/Clarification?

Thanks skillset. What you said makes sense. Everything I have been reading agreed with what Jason said- lower the PH to help remove metal stains. I just got confused when the Metal Magic arrived last night and said to jack up the PH. Other than my fiberglass steps steps being a bit brown, I...

    Preventing Metal Stains - Advice/Clarification?

Jason- I found this thread after searching for metals in the water- we just had a new liner installed and had to refill with water loaded with iron :(. You mention that you prefer sequestrants based on HEDP, like ProTeams Metal Magic, and you suggested to lower the PH to 7.2 before using. As I...

    Liner / Coping Question

Thanks guys, I will get a picture up this weekend. A bit more background... the liner is the original liner, 21 years old. It just seems to be going at once. I guess it is at the end of its life cycle, so I guess we should have expected this. The coping is just the plane white hard plastic band...

    Liner / Coping Question

As our second spring in our new house arrived, we found a hole in the deep end of our liner (it was fun patching in mid may with the water at about 58 degrees!). Since then, 2 more holes have popped up and been patched. The wife and I decided to bite the bullet and order a new liner. In a few...

    Using SHock to remove stains

Floater for the win. There have been discussions that putting the tabs directly in your skimmer can lead to plumbing problems.

    Weeds through liner

I am not an expert, but is it possible for a weed to grow through the vinyl liner unless there was a hole there first? Kind of late now, but you could have put down some landscapping fabric to prevent the weeds from growing.

    Backwashing

I usually get crud in the bulb after backwashing too. However, a quick rinse right after backwashing clears it right up. Did you rinse after you backwashed?

Blue Diamond power supply burned out

I am confused as to why WaterTech would send you to Aquatron for service? Regardless, there should be a fuse you can replace on the power supply- that is one thing you can check. If you are certain the power supply is shot, I would see how much it is for a replacement- would probably be...

Converting from IG Vinyl to ??? and relocation of filter

Out of curiosity, is there a max distance you can move the pump/filter before performance suffers? If you move it a certain distance, will you need a larger pump? Or, since it is a closed system, it can be as far as you want?

    Where is my impeller???

In front of your electric motor, the pump should have a lid on it with a basket under the lid. Open the lid, and remove the basket. You should see a small hole on the side with the electril motor. Your impeller is in that hole. If you need to replace it, you may need to come from the other side...

    Blue Diamond Repair

Last summer I purchased a Blue Diamond robot. It exceeded my expectations when it came to cleaning the pool. I opened my pool last weekend and after a week of manual vacuuming/cleaning, it is in good shape. When I got home from work last night I decided to drop the Blue Diamond in and have it do...

    What's your current pool temp?

After 5 days (central Jersey) of rain and temperatures in the 60's, our water temp dropped from 82 to 72 :{ Yesterday was hazy, hot (92) and humid. The water picked p 2 degrees to 74. I am hoping it stays warm and the water temp continues to rise as the Labor Day party is a week away and I...

Plants for landscaping around the pool

I think telling your location (state) when naming plants/trees would be helpful in this thread. Here in the northeast, we can't get away with some of those nice tropical type plants/trees.
