Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

CYA was 70 when I began the SLAM. I have a SWG and according to the info that came with it that is the ideal target. I read in the forum here that to slam a SW pool with a CYA of 70 that your slam target FC should be 28.

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

Good morning! FC was at 27.5 at dusk last night. Is at 25.5 this morning. No bleach added since 6pm last night. Do I let the FC come down naturally now and consider the SLAM complete or do I keep it at this level for a bit longer? First time SLAMmer so sorry for all the questions

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

No worries! I'm worthy of teasing- in four years this is my first SLAM. Every season I learn a bit more, but in Iowa we only get a couple months practice each year! Thanks for the help!

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

2.6 sorry. What am I missing? I thought the ideal result was to lose no more than 1ppm in 24 hours and then you knew the slam was done. I just took my last sample as the sun is down now and will check it again before sunlight hits the pool in the morning.

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

CYA was 70 when I stated SLAM. PH 7.5, TA 70 and FC 2.7. It took 10 gal of bleach just to get FC to shock level of 26. I'll keep checking it and will stop adding bleach once the FC loss is less than 1ppm in 24 hours. I've been checking it about every 90 min since starting. I'll check it once...

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

Im not in front of my pool log now but the CYA was fine. I put a gallon of stabilizer in when I opened the pool. Pool is 14,500 gallons. I thought the loss seemed insane too but since the pool looks wonderful I was baffled. I'll just slam it- better safe than sorry!

Do I have to slam at start up if water is balanced- have SEG

Hello everyone! Fourth season with a pool. Have an intex ultra frame above ground- 16x32x52. Has a SWG and sand filter. I live in Iowa so it is closed for winters. My question- does a person have to slam at start up if the water is clear and sparkly and the water is balanced? My FC is 2.7, CC is...

ok, so feel free to call me a moron, but i thought i have read time and time again that CC and TC are the same. A combination of depleted FC and dirt, etc. Is that wrong? - - - Updated - - - Well I'll be. I just googled the heck out of it and i now understand the difference. On that note-...

    New Taylor test kit results

Because I read this forum all the time i knew I would't get off without providing a CC total so I sent the hubby out in the dark to get another sample to test. FC was 4.2 at the time of testing today, which was 5pm. As of 9:30 it is now 4.0. I did the CC test twice on the Taylor and oddly it...

    New Taylor test kit results

Good evening- I am on season number 2 with my 16 x 32 Intex Ultra Frame AGP with saltwater generator. Last year we set it up and it was nearly effortless, minus the constant vacuuming due to living on a gravel road. We had a bad storm here that took the pool down and we had to repair and...

Do I HAVE to shock or "boost" my saltwater pool if my levels are OK?

Re: Do I HAVE to shock or "boost" my saltwater pool if my levels are OK? Unfortunately I am not able to dial up or back my SWG. I can only set it to run for a set amount of hours a day. As it is now it runs 7 hours a day. I can run it longer when needed to boost chlorine levels. I...

Do I HAVE to shock or "boost" my saltwater pool if my levels are OK?

Hello everyone- apologies in advance if I am posting incorrectly. I have been researching on TFP for months but am new the concept of posting in the forum. We are new pool owners- have a 16 x 32 AG Intex Ultra Frame with the SWG and sand filter. My question is simple- it says to "boost" or...
