    Carpet under pool???

Hi Guys, not been on for a fair while. i used carpet under my Intex pool and have to say it worked fairly well, it does not however give the soft feel that I think you are looking for but does give better protection than a plastic sheet or nothing. If I were doing the job again I would use 1"...

    Pumping .... (head of water)

Hi guys, I have a 3/4hp pump. I am looking to build some kind of solar heater on the roof of my house. Can anyone please advise on the maximum head of water that a 3/4hp pump will lift or push ? I will be using 1/2" or 3/4" inch bore tube if that makes any difference to the answer. Thanks in...

    PAUL'S POOL

After a year with my first pool I thought it may be useful to others to share my experiences and thoughts, and hopefully give anyone that is still thinking about an above ground pool or any pool for that matter a little inspiration. As a kid, like all kids I guess, we dreamt of having our own...

    Pool from Sam's

Skidiva44, I had a similar issue last winter when I built my pool, I needed to set it all up on the ground so that I could build the decking around it which took several months, obviously I didnt want to fill it with water and I didnt want it filled with leaves from the nearby trees so I put the...

    metal frame intex question

Hi guys, same situation for me in the UK, am tempted to leave up but maybe partially drained, obviously will drain pump filter and pipework etc. I am not sure why this is such a big issue as the water if frozen would expand upwards no ? also the intex pool liners are fairly flexible so I dont...

Guardex test kit ...... yes or no

Hi guys, still having a few problems with my cloudy water so am looking to get a proper test kit this weekend to replace the test strips. Would you recommend the Guardex kit ? I think they are an American company hence my question. Thanks

    Cloudy Water

Agreed I understand that. Perhaps my question should be then, Can the pool be cloudy and not have enough PH ? Things appeared to go wrong when I added PH+ Regards

    Best use of Heater

Thanks for your thoughts Jason. I think to a degree it will be a case of try it and see, and also must be influenced by the outside air temperature. I guess you guys dont have heat problems like we do :) I just wondered if there was an exact science to heating as opinion seems to be split...

    Best use of Heater

Hi guys, pool has got to 14 degrees here in the sunny UK (dont laugh) I have a 9kw heater which appears to be working fine, this is my first pool so a few questions if you would be so kind. As a first test / trial run I had the heater on for approx 9 hours yesterday, it was a nice sunny day...

Is this set up too much ?

The original was allegedly rated at 1500gph, this has a lot more suck and blow than that, Have not created a whirlepool or a spa jet scenario but just wanted to check I would do no damage with over pumping as it were. If it was say 2000gph for simplicity, what would you say the normal run time...

Is this set up too much ?

I assume you mean the impellar end, will have to look when I get home. No the pool is new but was dissapointed with the std pump and filter in particular. Sandfilter appears to work fine, pool is very clear, hoover works well even when on filter without any visible dirt returning to the pool...

Is this set up too much ?

Hi Jason, many thanks for the guidance. Its a fairly old pump 2001 I think, model 0-1065405 3/4hp 930 watts. Also what are your thoughts on changing the sand ? do I need to do that ? it all seems fine although I do need a new pressure gauge. Regards Paul

Is this set up too much ?

Thanks, that would sort of make sense as the pump is plastic construction. Luckily I have had the pump on pretty much full time so far to chlorinate the pool etc. Regarding the pump the reason I am a little unsure is because there seems to be 2 ways to size a pump, GPH (simple enough) and HP...

Is this set up too much ?

Hi guys, my first post here and completely new to pools. I have a 16' round x 4' deep intex above ground pool which I have just fitted and set up. I found the std 1500gph pump to be ok if the pool was clean but if you wanted to hoover the pool it was a bit lacking in power, also the filter...
