    Raising alkalinity with Baking Soda

In 2018 I had the pool resurfaced. In Nov. of 2019 I drained the pool and refilled. Winter came with the rains and I let the pool just sit. Now I am bringing it back for swimming weather. My pH was off the charts so I have been adding about one quart of acid every other day. Over the weeks...

    Raising alkalinity with Baking Soda

I have a 16,000 gallon gunite pool and I need to raise the alkalinity. I understand it is best to use a multi-step process. What I have not found is any descriptions of how much baking soda to use in each step. One box, one pound, five pounds, I have no idea. Can someone tell me what quantity...

Stegmeier Channel Drains - Replacing old channels - Best Options Please

My Stegmeier channel drains are 29 years old, have become brittle, cap less in many areas and generally worn out. How do I go about replacing these drains. I have heard a circular saw with cement cutting blade is used to remove the old drain. Is this correct? Is there a replacement available?

    Gunite chips on pool steps

This just happened today. I swept my pool this morning and walking by it this after noon I noticed two areas where the plaster had popped loose. Is this something to expect from a 27 year old pool? Is it time to start thinking about a re-surface job?

Cleaning a few leaves from pool bottom

Does anyone know a trick for removing just a few leaves from the bottom of the pool without getting out the leaf vacuum or the pool flex head vacuum? It would take my Polaris 360 hours to randomly pick up the few leaves. I have a deep bag pool rake but it mostly pushes the leaves around never...

Polaris 360 stays in one area

The hose used to reach the farthest point, which happens to be my steps in the shallow end. The offset wheels of the Polaris matched perfectly with the curve of the step. consequently, the Polaris would just spin in the corner where the step meets the pool wall. I shortened the hose about two...

Polaris 360 stays in one area

My 360 reaches the end of the hose's reach and just sits there and spins. When the reverse valve kicks in, the cleaner is pulled away from its spot but returns there once the forward motion returns. I shortened the hose until it would not reach the pool steps, the farthest point, which is where...
