    How much HP for pump?

I need a pump for a 32x16 ft above ground oval pool. It's roughly 4.5 ft deep so about 15,000 gallons. Is there a recommended HP I need? 1 hp, 1.5hp, etc?

Why does CYA take up to a week to show on tests?

I added some CYA and would like to test the water, but Pool School says to wait a week before testing. I'm curious as to why it takes a week for CYA to show up on test results.

Looking for advice on SLAM (picture)

Yea, I'm not really sure what happened my self. I know when I added the first batch of chlorine it turned into a cloudy mess and then I vacuumed everything out the next day a couple times (to waste) while pounding it with chlorine. The next morning it was looking good and then today I feel...

Is water clarifier needed after SLAM?

I just slammed my green pool the last couple nights and I woke up to clearness with no cloudyness from what I can see. Should I still use a water clarifier or just leave it as is? I'm just not sure if a clarifier should be used to catch whatever I can't see or if it's fine.

Looking for advice on SLAM (picture)

I did use pucks last year. Are you saying I'm going to need a ton of bleach/chlorine to fix this? There's no hope? lol. I'm confused about the ammonia.

Looking for advice on SLAM (picture)

I'm planning on getting a test kit, but in the meantime I had the pool store test the water: Total chlorine: 0.4 Free chlorine: 0.0 Ph: 7.0 Alkalinity: 90 Calcium Hardness: 75 CYA: 0 Pool is 14,000 gallons, sand filter, above ground. I've read the pool school, but would still like opinions...

Why use tablets if they increase CYA?

Wow I didn't expect to get a response that fast, thanks everyone. I've gone through Pool School and it seems like the idea is to Slam to start the season and then check daily or every other day for what needs to be adjusted to get FC based on that calculator in this site. I've always been...

Why use tablets if they increase CYA?

I'm fairly new pool care and I've seen tons of posts regarding high CYA levels. I plan on shocking my pool with Sodium Hypochlorite (liquid chlorine) to open it. Why not just shock it every week with this stuff to keep chlorine levels up? How is everyone keeping the CYA from getting too high...
