Use of Marine Paint on pool steps

Thank you lynns. I'll give them a call re the toxicity of the flakes, and I'll give this to the pool guy who used the paint on my steps. Do you think the paints made for pools should be used vice marine paints?

Use of Marine Paint on pool steps

Interlux Brightside polyurethane marine paint was used by a contractor to paint my pool steps this off season, and now it is peeling. I am planning to partially drain and have it re-painted after this season. Safety data that I can find seems to relate to the paints application. Does anyone...

    Hayward vs Circupool RJ45 SWG

I installed a Circupool RJ60 this spring. Easy to install and has performed perfectly. Bought online for 1k. Smaller units (RJ45?) are cheaper.

    Startup questions for SWG

Sorry poolmom, you said to place socks in front of RETURNS - I just couldn't get SKIMMERS out of my head. I did just get my AARP card this year, so maybe I'm already having senior moments. Will move the socks in front of the returns. Thanks.

    Startup questions for SWG

I've hung two socks with 2.5 lb cya each in front of two separate skimmers. After 12 hours, I can't see where much has dissolved. Can cold water (mine is at 50F now) slow down the process? I noticed when adding salt, I had to do a lot of sweeping to dissolve it also - only got 400 lbs added...

    Startup questions for SWG

Just thought about bk406's comment about the SWG not working below 60F. I didn't realize this. Is there any data of temp vs chlorine production? I guess then I'll have to tweak the SWG setting as temp rises. Is there a temp where where the graph flattens out?

    Startup questions for SWG

I have three skimmers, and "I put a sock in it" (anyone remember Happy Days?) for two of them. I'll try dangling, if you don't think it will be a detriment to the new liner. I like the approach of using multiple sources for my CYA as bk406 advodates. Again, thanks for the help.

    Startup questions for SWG

Wow - thanks for the QUICK responses! I should have used tri-chlor tabs to run up the CYA and FC before I cut out the chlorinator and replaced it with the SWG!!!! Oh well. Liquid CYA is way too much $$$. And the point about possibly having to backflush after adding about $150 into the...

    Startup questions for SWG

Hello All - Last year was my first with the BBB method. I loved the better sense of control from doing all my testing, and once I got things down, the pool was crystal clear all season. But with a big pool, I lugged a LOT of chlorine, ruined quite a few t-shirts and shorts, and overflowed the...

Cloudy water (see this on a lot, don't ya)

Oh yea, and not really clearing up anymore.

Cloudy water (see this on a lot, don't ya)

Mom- I added some DE to my sand filter this evening. It only took 1/2 cup to raise the backpressure by one psi, instead of the typical 1-2 cups in the link you provided. Does this indicate some kind of problem with my filter? My FC level dropped from 12 to 7 over the day today (I was at work...

Cloudy water (see this on a lot, don't ya)

Thanks for all the replies! Been a busy day or I would have responded sooner. mom- the DE trick sounds like a good idea. duraleigh- i had #2 and #3; didn't realize #1 was needed before reducing FC to maintenance level. Guess I read "Swamp to Oasis" wrong. Will keep FC @ 15 until water is...

Cloudy water (see this on a lot, don't ya)

This is my first season using BBB, bought the TFP test kit and am using it. Read Pool School and Turning your Swamp into Oasis. Upon uncovering (mesh cover), pool was green, green, green (a bad pollen year with lots of oaks and pines around pool area). Started pump and ran it 24/7. After...

    Vinyl Liner Wrinkles

Yeah, that sounded like a pretty healthy profit margin to me. Thanks for the info. Don't know if I would attempt to install a liner myself. I've replaced pumps and timers and multiports but a liner might be a bit above my pay grade. I'll keep looking for a more reasonable deal.

    Vinyl Liner Wrinkles

Thanks to all for your help. My liner is somewhere between 13 and 15 years old, so I'm probably on borrowed time anyway. Got an eye opener from the company that installed the current liner when I asked for an estimate on installing a new liner - 10 large! Does that sound crazy or about right...

    Vinyl Liner Wrinkles

Hello. I'm a newbee to this forum, but I've owned my pool (inground w/ vinyl liner) for 10 years. I'm looking forward to starting the BBB method this season and have just received my TF Test Kit! My question is how do you know when to replace a vinyl liner? Last season I developed severe...
