Hate to say it bust it sounds like mustard algae... you should SLAM your pool and brush as often as you can. I can tell you that it took me two weeks of SLAMMING at MUSTARD LEVEL to get it to go away. I hope it doesn't work out for you that way.

Mustard Algae may not register CCs... I've seen in it my pool when I was battling Mustard Algae... When you brush does the cloud go green? If so, it's definitely algae and not pollen IMHO. We did have a bad pollen season, but it appears to be over a while ago. I hope for your sake it's not...

Well just an update on my ZOMBIE ALGAE problem... LOL... :D I wound up adding borates late last week. Dropped my TA/PH down with MA, and then added the borax, and then more MA to get the PH back down. The better half ordered an Intex salt system around the same time and it arrived last Friday...

Honestly, I've never looked! :D But I do not recall seeing anything when I've been in there. I was there the other day picking up hay to use for spreading grass seed, and I was in and out! I figured I'd make it quick as to not see anything else I couldn't live without. LOL :D

Gravity feed? This means you'll need a "bleach tower". How close to the pool? How far? If it's outside, it will degrade from the heat... Sounds like a neat concept... I would use something better than aquarium line that's for sure.

Don't use tabs unless you go on vacation and someone can't add bleach for you. The tabs will continue to bump up your CYA past the point of diminishing returns.

There's really not much you can do in the way of progress until you have a proper test kit. I do recommend the TF-100. Order it ASAP. You're going to need to know your exact CYA level or you'll be wasting time and bleach. My advice in the short term would be to assume you have 0 CYA, and use...

It has been mentioned in the past that phosphates can also be suspected in relation to mustard algae it seems to be the only connection why some pools get it and some don't. Chem-Geek has covered this... he can speak on the subject more.
