    Water smell

The water is just regular city water. It just started. Have had the hot tub for about a year now. Its a 2007 model. Last time when I drained it I took a bucket of the water and tossed it in the grass and the grass died. (scary) It smells kind of acidic I guess you would say.

Yes I scrubbed it and use tap water to refill, same thing. I will check the bucket thing. I read a thread on hear about the ozonator. I looked in and mine has been discontinued so I bought a newer one. If that's the problem great if not well a new part. Yes cleaned the filter. I rotate the...

    Water smell

So I went from Chlorine to Bromine, did not like the Bromine so drained the hot tub, refilled and got a nasty smell. Drained again and still bad smell. Used test strips and color is off the charts, no idea what the numbers are. Used my pool kit and tested the PH and it is bright yellow. So is...

    Time for new liner?

So how do you know when it is time for a new liner. We bought ours with the pool in 2012. It starting to get rough along the water line and yesterday I noticed there are some wrinkles around the skimmer. Don't want to have to install a new one in the middle of summer so would like to start...

    Pump too powerful

Its high flow now and the pressure is close to 13 when solars on on and 11 when they are off. The guy I bought the pump from told me that is why its tripping. My old pump was only showing about 3 for a pressure.

    Pump too powerful

So I had a 2 speed pump, installed 2 solar heaters and was getting hardly any flow out of the return. Talked to the local pool guy who sold me a one speed 1.5 horse pump. I have a cartridge filter and now the pump trips off due to water flow. I have hi pressure coming out now but it is too much...

    Deck Addition

Yea I was doing the pros and cons. More expensive to replace the pool because my kids do not listen so we went with going over the top. Yes it will be painstaking to pull up the boards but it is not an every year project so be it.

    Deck Addition

We are adding on to our deck today so we can get in and out easier on our above ground pool. The dilemma I have is setting the deck board. Above the rim cap or below it. I see a lot of designs with the deck boards under the cap but am afraid if I do that the kids will stand them causeing damage...

    New Sand Filter

Ok sounds good. The filter is what they gave us when we bought the pool from the business. Have you heard of opening a pool prior to the grass turning green as that is when it gets warm and Algae grows? I have heard of opening before it gets warm. Not sure if you have that problem in Arizona but...

    New Sand Filter

When we bought our pool 3 years ago we went with a cartridge filter. It works good but have found it to be a real pain when opening the pool and during the once a week of pulling it out and cleaning it all the time and the $100 for each cartridge which after opening I have to get another one and...

    Filter not filtering

I have a 1.5 HP Waterway 2 speed pump with a Black Diamond Cartridge Filter. Since I opened this year on my 28ft Above Ground Pool I have been fighting it. Finally got it somewhat cleared up but still a little cloudy. I tried vacuuming what is left in the bottom but it just goes by my filter...

    sivymp1 - testing

Here are my readings as of last night. I think the cloudiness is caused by the calcium. Will Slamming the pool clear that up? FC=3.6 CC=.4 PH=7.2 TA=150 CYA=30 CH=290

    sivymp1 - testing

When it was blowing back to the pool I was not vacuuming to waste. I thought the filter would catch it and that is when I saw it blowing through the return. - - - Updated - - - I have a cartridge filter not a sand filter also.

    sivymp1 - testing

When I was vacuuming it it was just blowing out the return, it was all cloudy. I was tired of losing all the water so I thought the filter would catch it. Nope so it just blew right back into the pool.
