    Additonally what chemical are you using to specifically fight the algae? Are you using a chlorine free shock or shock with chlorine?

    I recently took over as maintenance director over a community center and school. Picture 983 was how the pool looked when I started. They completely let the pool go over the winter. Picture 854 is how the pool looked once I started working on it.

    wiring question

    My suggestion is to run the wires in conduit and use nail plates if you are sheet rocking this in. My thought is you don't these wires to be chewed by any wild life.

    Thick algae covered layer of leaves

    I would vacuum and net as much leaves and debris out of the deep end as possible then test the water and shock based on those results.

    Can't prime pump!

    Are you allowing the pump to run long enough? Try taking top off pump and filling with water hose put top back on and see if it primes then.

    Still with the sand coming through return lines--concerned and confused

    Sand getting back into pool sounds like some internals maybe broken inside the sand filter. The sand has to be removed in order for the internals to be checked.
