    Pool full of Ectocooler!!

if you water is just a little cloudy, you aren't done. Maintain shock level until all three of these things happen: 1. clear water. like Waterford crystal clear. 2. CC is 0.5 or less 3. overnight chlorine loss is 1.0 or less only when all three things occur at the same time are you finished.

Algae with enough FC (I think!)

According to the OCLT process, you should raise your chlorine level higher than 2.5 to check for loss. I don't believe the blanket makes a difference unless it's the source of algae. You're sounding like a SLAM. Caught early, it shouldn't take long. Good luck!

Algae with enough FC (I think!)

Visible algae does equal a SLAM. Have you checked an overnight loss test to see if you're dealing with organics vs dust/debris?

    What FC to mantain at

That sounds like the approach I take. From the time I add in the evening, I want my chlorine level at my target level by the same time the next evening. My target is 7 so I aim for 10 each evening. Sometimes the next evening, my FC will be 8 and sometimes it will be 6. Depends on how many...

Is this a passable filter system for a 27' round?

honestly, if I had it to do over, I would have gotten a 33'. My advice would be to go as big as you can afford and have space to put it. I would upgrade my filter. And I would be more mindful about where I had my skimmer placed. Oh, and 2 returns would have been nice. LOL
