    Algae?

I apologize for not responding with an update sooner. The crushed vitamin C tablets in a sock made a marked difference in the rust stain and we had the company that did the replastering ten years ago inspect the surface. The result was pool surface is fine. Appreciate all of your help as always.

    Yellow spots

mknauss, thanks for your guidance. Began the SLAM as soon as I read your post, brushed, added chlorine to 30 and reduced the RPM. The evening of the 5th I did an OCLT and the FC was 29, the morning of the 6th it was 27.5, kept it close to 30 for the 6th, brushed again and the OCLT started at...

    Yellow spots

Good morning. For the last couple of months I have been seeing yellow spots on walls and floor of my pool, deep end and shallow. When I brush them, it looks like powder/cloud like and disperses. The spots can return after a day or sometimes several days or not for a couple of weeks. Sometimes...

    Clorox

Two weeks ago, I purchased several 3 - 1 gallon packs of Clorox 8.25% bleach(on the carton) for 9.99 at Costco. One of the jugs was actually 6.0%, thought they had just made a mistake. Went to a different Costco today and all they had were 3 - 1 gallon packs that said 6.0% for the same 9.99...

    PH adjustment not working

Ok, here are the numbers today and the CSI tells me there is potential to be corrosive to plaster but based on the previous threads I will ignore that(unless directed otherwise) Pool water temp was 48 and I warmed the water to 72 before testing. FC - 5 CC - 0 PH -7.4 TA - 70 CH - 275 CYA - 30

    PH adjustment not working

Tim and Duraleigh - thanks for the clarification and advice. I added enough calcium chloride to raise the reading about 30 points, went to the pool store, Home Depot and a couple of hardware stores only had mixes with calcium chloride. The washing soda was completely dissolved, I learned that...

    PH adjustment not working

Tim, thanks for your reply. The pump is running, I just checked!! On TA I am reading the color change at 70 but adding another drop makes it brighter so I assume 75. On CH I used 10 ml water and got 9 drops x 25 for the change and on CYA, I use the big tube and slide because I have great...

    PH adjustment not working

Good morning. Have been using TFP for almost 2 years with great success - This morning, my readings were ph - 7.3 fc - 5 cc - 0 ta - 75 ch - 225 cya - 25 -30 My concern is that the poolmath page is giving me a corrosive reading, kind of scary. Yesterday my ph was 7.3 and I added 60 oz of...

Need help with new Pentair VS pump and filter

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. I also spoke with a Pentair tech who told me trial and error was the correct approach without some specifics I didnt have but 1600 rpm for 16 hours would be a good starting point. I dropped the rpm to 1600 and will see how that goes, it almost seems...

Need help with new Pentair VS pump and filter

Good morning. Yesterday had a Pentair intelliflo VS pump(up to 3hp) pump and 420 Pentair clean and clear filter installed. Ran for 12 hours at 2500 rpm with the flow valve weighted to the floor drain. The filter pressure was 10. You could see movement in the water and all the jets were...

    Opportunity to size filter

Patrick, we have lived here 20 years and were told the pool was built in the late 50's and that MAY be correct. The last replaster we had the tile and edging blocks replaced. That certainly made a difference in the appearance.
