    Squirrel Surprise

Well, I'm not sure if anyone else has a similar problem but the squirrels in our backyard are out of control. They have chewed on my BBQ knobs, the wood on our deck, etc. My biggest gripe is that they seem to love chewing on the little pull-up knob on our safety fence (Magna Latch 3). Last...

New Pool Build Frederick County Maryland

PCR, Out of curiosity, which builder did you go with? We're down in Northern VA and are just wrapping up a renovation with the new Aqua Bright coating. The only installer in the greater DC area that worked with AB was Pools Patios & Porches in your neck of the woods (Frederick MD). Just...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

Figured I'd provide another update..... Tile with grout is now complete. They need to do a bit more grinding and smoothing of the plaster finish before they can start prepping the AB coats. Getting excited to see the final product!!

    Lap Pool Renovation with Aquabright

Brian, Do you have pics of the Blue Mist? That's the color we picked out and they should shoot it hopefully by the end of this week. I just noticed on your website that there are additional colors that aren't shown on the ecoFinish website. Do you have any pictures of Bay ice or Pacific...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

Just reloaded the pics -- not sure why they aren't showing (they appear in the post for me... but then again I haven't posted pics in a long time so I could have goofed). I know that sometimes I can't see other's pics if my login times out. BTW, I like your tile color combo -- that step edge...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

I haven't talked to my installer about the start up procedures yet but I question the need for a sequestrant if your fill water has reasonably low dissolved metals. Especially for AB which I imagine is less prone to permanent staining than plaster.....(I'm assuming the Start up Tec and BeauTec...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

We're going to be adding a tile detail to each step edge. I'm really excited about how that's gonna look because the old steps looked pretty plain. Yesterday they started cutting a trough in the plaster so they can inlay the tiles For the Spa edge I asked that they create an infinity...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

So I came home yesterday and was glad to see that our installer had chipped out a few hollow sections. Since we're down that path I tapped around and found a few more hollow spots which hopefully represent the last of the bad plaster. The other question that remains are the pock marks and I...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

Brian, Why did you say that you would never repair the hollow spots again? Did you have issues like what bjc123 mentioned above (ie the patches came up once heat was applied)? I called Aqua Bright HQ in PA yesterday and spoke with Mike Donovan (one of the trainers). He said it's a judgment...

    Pool renovation with Aqua Bright

Hi everyone, Back in the fall I posted about the estimates I got for replastering as compared with an Aqua Bright install (prices are CRAZY in the mid atlantic region!). Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and go for the Aqua Bright. They started the Reno last week. So far they have blasted...

    ecoFINISH aquaBRIGHT longterm review

Hi all, It's been a while since I last posted so figured I'd give an update. I got 5 quotes for plaster and one Aquabright. It looks like our pool was painted at some point (over plaster) so all quotes include sand blasting as part of the prep. The quotes also include basic tile (~145 linear...

    ecoFINISH aquaBRIGHT longterm review

Just to share, I'm in the process of getting replaster quotes and the Aqua Bright approach is VERY intriguing to me. Yesterday the AB installer stopped by to survey our pool and I'm waiting to hear his final numbers to see how they compare with the replaster companies. If the price for the AB...

Need help finding skimmer weir gates

I'll second the floating weir.... When we first moved in 2 years ago I noticed that I didn't have a weir door on either of my two skimmers. I searched around looking for replacements but never followed through. In the mean time I just had to do double duty with the hand skimmer, which was...
