    New pump suggestions

Is that the same pump as the Black and Decker? It looks the same aside from the color scheme. I had been looking at the B&D.

    New pump suggestions

Hi Everyone. I'm thinking of replacing my pump this year. It's a 12 year old Hayward SP2607X10. I've replaced the guts a couple of times due to nuisance leaks, but it's coming out pretty good this year and I figured I'd take the opportunity to upgrade to something a little better. Honestly I...

    Dolphin Active 20 cord issue

I am having the same issue as the OP. My unit was purchased new from Marina in May and the description clearly states that the Active 20 has a swivel cord, while mine does not. I'm a little concerned, because there do seem to be some points at which the cable is already becoming deformed...

Warrior SE new owner - first question

I believe the cycle time is two hours, so that sounds normal. Warrior SE, Active 20 and S200 all have a two hour run time. Did it do the job in two hours or was there still more work to be done?

    Slamming

Excellent, thank you. I have not done a deep clean on either of my sets, but based on your information, I don't really have to. Once I spray them with the hose the pressure drops right back down to normal, which for me is about 8psi.

    Slamming

The only possibility now is inside the light housing. There's nothing anywhere else. I actually removed the screw covers for the stairs at closing last season because that was a favorite hiding spot. Okay, thanks. I waited tonight until 7:30 sun was still up but setting and not near the...

Okay, I'm researched out... which SWCG should I get?

Pentair Warrior SE vs. Dolphin S200

What is the average life expentancy of a robot? My first one, a Dolphin Atlantis, died this year and would have been 7 in August. I used it regularly, but it was stored inside when not in use. I think the motor burnt out since one of the contact pins was had melted and charred plastic around...

I need a new pool cleaner.

I just ordered a new Dolphin Active 20 from Marina thanks to this forum. Apparently they can't get the S200 at the moment, and with the rebate it was a little cheaper than the Pentair version. Marina was very helpful and easily had the best pricing that I could find.

    Slamming

I was going to hijack another thread but since I have several questions I thought it would be better to start a new one. I opened a very clear pool this year with a relatively thin layer of algae on the bottom, but the water was crystal clear. I vacuumed manually right away, and began...

    Odd Salt test Results

Hi Guys, I'm using the Taylor salt test kit. On the 24th of June I tested and it was at 3,000 I tested again on the 29th and got the same result so I added a 40lb. bag which according to Poolmath would have brought me to ~3,200 ppm which is where I wanted to be. Today I tested and I'm at...

    DPD Powder Question

I am still using my DPD powder from my original kit which isn't 18 months old yet. I recently ordered another one along with another bottle R-0871 because I had to do a slam and used up quite a bit of both of those. Anyway, the new powder is pretty much white while my older powder is light...

    Swimming and Slamming

Yes, it's one of the newer ones. Thanks. So I don't have to drain or anything, just make sure the breaker is off and I can take it out and clean in there?

    Swimming and Slamming

WOW, that dropped fast. I was down to 29 this morning after a few good downpours which added about 2" of water. I'm sure that helped. Got another question: I'm pretty sure I see some algae in the light fixture. I didn't go in to check today, but I will tomorrow. If that's the case, will I...

    Swimming and Slamming

Thanks Guys! But I do have a situation. I thought I had unplugged the SWG, and did not, so it was producing FC all day. I started my slam about three hours ago and just did my first test. My FC is now 41, which is WAY above the suggested 28. Obviously there's no swimming, but is there...

    Swimming and Slamming

Thanks Dave! I'll shut the SWG off. Since it's going to be lousy weather starting this afternoon, I'll make sure they have their fun this morning while I'm running to the store for some bleach.

    Swimming and Slamming

I just did my OFCLT and it looks like I need to slam. My water is crystal clear, but I noticed a couple of Algae spots and also that my FC numbers seemed to be a little lower than they should. At first I thought my CYA was off and I was losing the FC to sunlight. The CYA was off, so I...

    FC & CC Test

I've noticed that if I leave my completed test sitting for a bit that eventually it will have a pinkish hue. So I do the cc test and the water doesn't change color...not immediately, but after several minutes it will. Is this normal, should I be waiting before recording my results?

    Pressure Change

I didn't realize they sold them. I was looking on Amazon, but haven't purchased yet, so I will definitely get one from tft. Thanks! Interesting that you mention the eyeball. I have the one's that are all one piece, so they don't 'lock' in place. I've found that they're rotating on their...

    Pressure Change

I was thinking that as well. It's definitely a cheap piece. I'll get a new one just for the heck of it.

    Pressure Change

I'll be honest, I didn't think there was all that much DE on them when I opened it up. There were some clumps near the top, but the grids themselves weren't too bad. They weren't overly stiff or anything, as far as I could tell. Like I said they were almost pure whit when I was done. Is it...

    Pressure Change

I wasn't sure if I should piggy back on someone else's thread or start a new one. I have a Hayward DE3620. My typical pressure over the last two years (age of the pool and equipment) been been between 12psi and 16psi, 16 being when I backwash and recharge with 80% of DE required. This year...

Just Opened for the New England Season

I just read on another thread that the water should be 'room temperature' when checking CYA, is that true? I'm not sure what the water temp is in the pool at the moment (thermometer broke last year), but I'd be surprised if it's higher than 62 degrees. Is that warm enough for an accurate CYA...

Thanks JB. Will do. I'll start tomorrow. I have to go get some more bleach. - - - Updated - - - Nice, where abouts? I'm in MA, on the northshore.
