    New heater advice

So I guess I'm kinda stupid. Upon closer inspection, the black pipe is like my pool line, but has a yellow gas line inside of it. I still can't quite see what size the line is, so will have to get more into it this weekend. I guess the good news is that if I need to pull a larger size pipe, I...

    New heater advice

Here is the pic. Think its 1.5" looks to be the same size as the return lines from my pool. Will that be enough?

    New heater advice

Here is a pic of the gas line coming in. Looks like at least an inch -1.5 " black pipe, tappered down to maybe .5" or .75" going into the heater. Is this sufficient?

Not sure on how large of a supply pipe I have now. How big would I need for a 400k heater? Thanks

    New heater advice

I am in need of a new heater. Mine never fired last year, but we were lucky to have a warm summer and never needed it. My pool is a 20x40 igp, with around 35,000 gal, and I do use a solar blanket. I live in Michigan, so could use the extra help when pool drops below desired temps. My current...

    Replace non working fiberoptic light

This is a year old thread that I let go last year. I checked the previous suggestions and those seem to be fine. If I want to just replace this with a new light set up, can that be done? I am a pretty handy guy, can I handle it DIY? What kinds of price would I be looking to install a new...

Sand in the pool, broken laterals?

I have been a little confused by it, since the pump is a vs it goes up and down with the speed. Old 1 hp pump it ran around 20 psi right now I have the pump on 2000 rpm and it is at 10 psi. At 3300 it jumps to 25 psi

Sand in the pool, broken laterals?

No one has been in the pool yet, I vacuumed Saturday, put the cover on, came back today and uncovered to find a good amount of sand. Maybe my closing practice is bad. No new sand added since the filter install last summer. I did just install a Superflo vs pump last week. Any chance the...

Sand in the pool, broken laterals?

Trying to get my pool in order and I am getting a enough sand blown back in the pool to make it very noticeable on the bottom of the pool. It is a Hayward sand filter and was just installed last July. Could it be a broken lateral or more? Or could there be a simpler explaination do to my...

    Heater plug stripped

I probably could have drill and tapped it, but I was in a yank and don't really have that skill set. My buddy was able to weld enough to get the bolt in and I put JB weld all over the place. It is holding just fine right now, but might still need to figure out a more permanent fix. Again...

    Heater plug stripped

There is nothing left on the inside to be able to screw into. Maybe a rubber plug that twist from the outside?

    Heater plug stripped

I was opening the pool last weekend and the heater plugs and opening are badly rusted and one completely stripped. Right now I am unable to run my system because it is not plugged. I would like to just get through the summer with the heater and replace next spring. My buddy tried to weld it...

    Replace non working fiberoptic light

I just pulled the lamp, and the coils inside look to be intact. It will not power on at all. Blown fuse???? Maybe need to check to make sure the wire is hot coming into the light. Other suggestions? Who would I call to service this? Not sure my normal pool store will even touch this...

    Replace non working fiberoptic light

We are going into our 4th season with our pool. Last year our fiber optic light stopped working. I really liked the light before, as it would light up the whole pool and had many different colors. I am having trouble finding people around me that will work on it, and I know nothing about them...

Any thoughts on the Hayward SP2302VSP Max-Flo VS? Just looking around, and it is cheaper and does has good reviews on amazon.

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

Not really sure how many hp my current pump is, do you guys think that the superflo vs 1.5 hp has enough to power for my pool? It has 35000 gal and would definitely want to make sure it is enough for the pool. Thanks

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

I just went home to check my breaker box and my pool pump is on a double 20 amp breaker. I guess that means that I have 230 going to my existing pump???? Should be fine going with the intilliflo 3 hp then. I want to make sure I have a necessary pump if we do choose to go with the SWG in the...

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

If I decide to go the 2 stage route, would it have to go into high speed for the pool heater to work? Or will it have enough flow for the heater to kick on as needed in low speed? Thanks

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

We are interested in going to SWG in the next few years, but it has been $1000 every summer to fix little issues with the pool. I will keep that in mind as I make the decision. Again, thanks for the input from everyone. I really appreciate it.

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

Wow, thats great info everyone. I have been leaning towards the Intelliflo. Looks like people that have them, really like them. My only issue is that I need to check what I have as far as electrical going to the current pump. Looks like the Intelliflo needs a 240v, which I really am not sure...

Need to start planning on new pump for spring

I noticed while closing the pool last fall, that I had a small leaking coming from my pump. I closed as normal, and figure I would deal with it this spring. The current pump came with the pool when we bought it 3 yrs ago. I have no idea how old it is, but it cost a good amount of money to run...

I am also not married to any brand. All my stuff right now is actually Hayward. Is there a brand I should stay away from, or one you all recommend?

New pump and filter help needed!

Also I don't have a good test kit. I've been getting by taking samples in to the pool store. I'm intrigued by the BBB method but I'm a little intimidated and not sure how to start.
