Deep Cleaning Sand Filter - Question

Having read the pinned post about deep cleaning, I have a question that I'm looking for ways to solve. First, a picture of the pump/filter pad. If I remove the retaining band around the multiport valve, I don't think I'll have much room to maneuver given the way the pipes are installed...

Does anybody's pool get too HOT to swim in?

Our pool temp had been running in the upper 80's (86-88) since I got it CLEAN and it was actually "ok" because the air temps were in the mid 90's most of the time. Early last week we went thru a cool-down and some rain. After doing some work in the garage and getting hot -n- sticky, I decided...

SLAMing but pool is getting greener and cloudier

Two things that I'll add are be patient and take some pictures. It took about 3-4 days of constant Shock levels for me to start seeing much improvement in the water color/quality. But I also took pictures every day, about the same time/same sun exposure. Although it was difficult to see any...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

I'll try to get some new pictures if/when the weather clears up. I didn't do an OCLT last night because of the rain storm that we had late afternoon/all evening but the numbers for Fri & Sat night were 1ppm loss. I'm still running my FC at a higher than normal level because I can now see the...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

N I C E ! ! ! This morning the water is clear (not crystal clear but BLUE clear as opposed to the green stuff) and, to my surprise, the FC this a.m. was slightly above 30 (I stopped at 60 drops and it was still pinkish.) ... So today I'll concentrate on sweeping the liner and getting the clarity...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

WOW - big improvement this morning. When I first went out to the pool, I was able to actually see the bottom of the pool. As I 'swept' the liner, I was able to see the 'dust cloud' in the water from the algae that had settled overnight. This morning's FC reading was 25, up a bit from...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

The connection was my erroneous thinking that the amount of water I have been removing for each backwash would have an impact on the CYA .. I guess over time it will, but in the short term, the small amount of water added won't impact it.

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

The FC reading this a.m. was BEFORE adding the dose of chlorine ... my pool math calculator is using 30 as the target after the addition of chlorine. And yes, I'm doing frequent water changes because the DE that I add after each backwash (except the overnight running of the filter) causes the...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

Two things that I've noticed - 1) the water is no longer a translucent green. It's now a cloudy green. I'm guessing that this is because the dirt/algae is getting suspended in the water colum 2) Even with the cloudiness of the water, I can now see the vacuum head at the bottom of the shallow...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

So from my first test this morning: FC: 0ppm Chlorine (CC ?) 0 TA: 100 CH: 125 pH: 8.2 CYA: 70 The pH went up from my previous by adding Borax .. since my source water is lower, it will go down as I do refills after filter backwashes. I added four gallons of 10% chlorine and have been...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

Process or definitions help needed : Just so that I'm sure on the non-chemical part of the clean-up, what I have been doing is, 1) Using the scrubber brush around the water surface and a little below 2) Using the pool brush WITH the vacuum hose attached to brush the lower sides and bottom 3)...

New Swamp is mine - now I need to get it clean

I couldn't find my original post but basically it said that I bought a house with a pool but the previous owner shutdown everything after the purchase agreement was signed. During walkthrough we found a GREEN pool but they wouldn't let us do anything to it 'due to insurance issues.' .. Anyway...

    Pool Equipment info

just to re-iterate, I do not have access to the pool yet and the home seller isn't doing anything to the pool. When I was at the house about 10-14 days ago, the water was clear and the pump was running. When we were there yesterday, the water was green but the pump was still running. From...

    Pool Equipment info

Forewarning - I do NOT yet own the house/pool - we're just a few days away from that, but I was able to get a picture today of the equipment pad and have a question about one item. The white circle is the electrical connections and (hopefully) the pump timer The yellow is the circulation /...
