Pump & motor cobbled configuration - motor dying

Home warranty covered pool equipment!!!! Pool guy comes out and finds other issues to write up as well. Got approved for a new pump...thank goodness because the motor died Monday and a new Hayward TriStar was installed today. This should help my electricity too as I went from 2 HP to 1-1/2 HP...

Pump & motor cobbled configuration - motor dying

thanks.....I think I've been running way too long! I'll cut it back and watch my cl a little more frequently now that the sun is moving down. And mjust replace the old motor with a more efficient single speed. B230SE instead of a UST1202....

Pump & motor cobbled configuration - motor dying

So that must be why the one is telling me it won't pay for itself...I think the valet pop ups are the only returns I have for the pool. There aren't any jets anywhere else except the spa. So I guess I just look for a more efficient single speed motor and better calculate my run time to get the...

Pump & motor cobbled configuration - motor dying

Electricity is $0.095/kwh. Yeah I'm seeing dual speed for about $4-500 but I find a whole new systems like a Hayward Max Flow VS for just over $600. I have one pool builder telling me a VS would pay for itself in 2 years and another saying it isn't worth it.

Pump & motor cobbled configuration - motor dying

I have what I think is a RS1500 Hayward pump with with appears to be a replaced motor from a Hayward Max Flo or Super II, a 2 HP AO Smith C48M2N111A3 with a Hayward Pools label on it. The motor's bearings are going and my electric bill is ridiculous so I think it's time to change.... It seems...

    CircuPool mounting bracket????

No screws attached....but now that you say that, I looked again and what appeared to be fastened is not.....the bracket is there, just really, really tight....had to pry it off. Thanks for the guidance.

    CircuPool mounting bracket????

Just received a CircuPool SWG that I planned to install this weekend but I'm puzzled....Is there supposed to be a separate mounting bracket? All I have is this big controller on a plate that for the life of me, I can't figure out how it would come off to use as a mount and there aren't really...

DE filter and SWG - any issue

I am relocating and the new house has a nice pool with DE filter and tablet feeder and heater. I want to convert to SWG as that is what I had/have in my other home now. Is there anything special I need to know about using the DE filter and this? My other pool was cartridge filters. The...

Installing a new Jandy cell- retrofit old one

Can I somehow take the existing tailpiece after removing the nut via saw and fit it to the new coupling nut by using a 2" coupling connecting the old tail piece to the new? I believe the old style was a 2" - 2" and the new is 2" - 2.5". My tailpiece is glued to my 3 way valve....trying to avoid...

Jandy 700 error 121 intermittent - no calcium

My error codes are coming and going....sometimes I get 121 in reversind and sometimes not....sometimes I get 120 in other. But if I unplug the DC power from the cell and replug it, I get an error and then it quits. I measured current at board....seemed awfully high at 33.6 volts....measured...

Jandy 700 error 121 intermittent - no calcium

OK, makes good sense...so I can just crank it up for awhile until I get a replacement? Mine is the square version with the sensor plumbed separate. The replacements appear to have the sensor plumbed into them so I presume I would just plug the old sensor and put it in the new spot? And my...

Jandy 700 error 121 intermittent - no calcium

Did some searches but didn't quite find the answer.... My 3-1/2 year old unit is giving me intermittent 121 error code which according to the manual is a low voltage issue in reversing cell. I just checked and washed the cell. It doesn't have any calcium buildup and was clear, though a bit...

    Automatic water leveler

We also have a drain in the tile line and an automatic leveler. But we have no real chemical loss with a SWG. And if it rains more than 3" I keep a closer eye on the salt level for a while and may have to add some. My problem is the drain itself has no where to go but in the yard and the...

What kind of winter pool cover do you use?

It's not so much a winter cover as it is a falling leaves cover! We have lots of oak trees in the yard. I take an oversized leaf net and drape it over a cable I string between the house pergola and a tree and then over the pool and anchor the sides with water tubes. (I tried pavers once, but...

    Jandy Aquapure trouble codes

Poolbuilder says my flow sensor is warrantied!!!! Not sure if it's the builder or Jandy, nor do I care :)... Neighbor's just went out as well and his is three years old...no warrantly. $200 off eby for him.

    Jandy Aquapure trouble codes

I just got these codes late yesterday. I pulled the sensor and cleaned it, though it appeared to be fine, reset and still the same codes. Waiting on a call from pool installer now since system is only 26 months old and should be warranty. Sensors seem to run in price from $144 to $299...

    Pea Gravel around Above-Ground Pool?

We have an inground pool and flagstone around part of it that we laid and originally put pea gravel in between. It was temporary....for two years  I finally replaced it with Gator Dust, but not because of any real gravel problem, but because stuff kept growing in it! We did track in...

    Paver Installation

Hmmm, no wonder they were steering you away :o It will clean up as sandybeach said. I had some damp stones when I first put some dust in and freaked out when everything went white. But it cleared up with a mist and a broom. But next time, I will make dang sure things are COMPLETELY DRY...

    Paver Installation

He's full of bull  I have a section I did last year to see how this stuff works. Water does not pool on it. Plants do not grow through it. I also have two other experimental sections, one with sand and one with pea gravel. Water doesn't pool on them.....but plants grown in each of...

    clogged pipe

I can offer some ideas but I have no idea how realistic they may be... 1) Do you have a valve that will allow you to shut off the main drain and simply pump from the skimmer? This might be enough to make something move if it is in there. 2) Own a plumbers' snake? Snake the pipe...depends...

    Ordered a Poolskim

Well I hope it works better than the Pool Devil. I recently purchased one of them and it just won't float properly to establish the venturi effect, no matter how I adjust it's position. If it would, I can see that it would be effective. Of course that was only about $18 but it has made me...

    PH Testing

I fought that pH rise constantly when the pool was built last year, until someone told me that the new pool would do that. So instead of daily worry and battling I just let it run up to 7.8 and then would add lots of acid to get it down to 7.2 and then test TA after a day... I ran the pump and...

Overhanging Trees & Pool Care Challenges

You have the chemistry answers from those that know a lot more than I 8) . I'm going to address the leaves in the fall question because our pool is surrounded by Oaks as well, and maples, and cypress and elm and pine and most people wonder if we were crazy to put one in... We make a...

Removal and storage question on Pressure side cleaner

Still researching and considering a pressure side cleaner, probably a Polaris 280. Pool isn't real big so it ought to be fine. But do you remove it during the day while people are in the pool? Is there some trick to storing it, ala no hose curl allowed? I remember staying one place with a...

    BBB and CYA

    BBB and CYA

So I've tested everything as follows FC 2 CC .5 TA 110 pH 7.6 CYA 55 CH 260...I think, it's close...I had a hard time counting that high with my shoes on So what's the BBB answer to raise CYA to 70? I'm adding bleach to increase FC and muriatic acid to lower pH to then aerate and decrease...

El Duderino's Austin Pool Build - FINISHED with PICS

I'm by far from being any kind of expert since this is the first pool I've ever owned but our builder brought us a metal brush for the diamondbrite finish and said "USE IT!" I'd be willing to bet that brush did it. Could you brush the diamondbrite areas with metal and the glass tile with the...
