Would there be any harm in doing the ascorbic acid treatment without knowing this is an iron problem? I have no issue spending less than $50 for a chance of it clearing up the stains.

The only chlorine in my pool is via household bleach. I have tried the chlorine puck directly on the stains with no improvement.

Ascorbic acid = the Vitamin C tablet? I tried one and it did nothing. Of course this was an over the counter Vitamin C tablet that was orange in color, but it was all we had in the house. Does that make a difference? Don't know what calcium hypochlorite is so I'm going to say no there.

Thanks for the response. Repairing the conduit is impossible as the ground above it is now covered in concrete. My only method of action is to use the epoxy putty. Is there any type of sprayable expanding foam that would work? I figure that'd be the easiest route.

While digging in my backyard, I hit the PVC conduit to my pool light. I thought I was well clear of it but obviously not. I hit it hard enough to crack the PVC and of course it is now leaking. Obviously this means I have a leak in the light, but from reading on here, this might be normal...
