    CYA help, please

Thank you both. I'm watching the ph daily. My pool is 1.5 years old and I've ALWAYS had to add MA more frequently that I thought I should. I was hoping this season would be better, since the plaster has some age on it now. I guess removing the "cream" makes it like new again? I'm currently...

    CYA help, please

My pool was just emptied, acid washed and refilled. I can now see my Diamond Brite instead of white "cream"! It looks great. I'm tweaking the chemistry and have been testing/adjusting daily to get to the sweet spot. I'm rather puzzled this morning. Yesterday, my CYA was 30. I put a gallon...

Plaster isn't right - considering an acid bath. Advice appreciated!

I'm not sure what a base demand test is. Also, my pool is already chlorinated. Does that make a difference? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plaster isn't right - considering an acid bath. Advice appreciated!

Patrick....you answered my question. Trying to test the ph will be pointless as the kit won't go that low Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you Patrick. Do you know the ph goal for this process? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plaster isn't right - considering an acid bath. Advice appreciated!

My pool is 1.5 years old now. I have diamond brite plaster. It has ALWAYS been streaky/splotchy (there's also a couple "drips") and has minimal Quartz exposed. My neighbor has the same plaster, but the PB did an acid bath on his. He has a LOT of Quartz exposure and it is the look I want. We...

Salt Water reading on Pentair Panel from SWG

Just another bit of info: I used the spa this morning and the light turned green and my panel read Salt level at 3600 ( I did not add any salt). Maybe the cooler water temp is affecting the reading...

Salt Water reading on Pentair Panel from SWG

Wow....thanks for the update. I'm going to clean the plates this weekend. My concern is that when the red light is on, "chlorine is not being made". I don't want to end up slamming. I guess I'll just test chlorine level daily.

Salt Water reading on Pentair Panel from SWG

Hello there! My panel has consistently read about 200 points lower than the pool store says my salt level is. I can live with that, no biggie. YES, I TEST MY OWN WATER, but I rely on the mom and pop pool store to check my salt level, as the only other method I have is to read the panel. Both...

    Black "oil looking" stains

Thanks for the education. My plaster is 6-7 mo old, so I'm good with Nylon brush only at this time (I just need to use it :). I'll try to get some trichlor tabs and see what happens.

    Black "oil looking" stains

I do not brush often enough. I've never had anyone tell me how often I should brush (other than the initial twice daily brushing with fresh plaster). It is a Nylon (I think) brush. I probably brush the pool a few times a month, to be honest. The spots have actually lightened (although they...

    Black "oil looking" stains

HELP! I have a few black spots on my plaster that look like drops of black oil. I'm 99.9% sure I had nothing drip into my pool. I've had a couple of these for months that I ignored but now I have several that I think developed over the weekend. Is this common? Do you have any idea what it...

Hi. My name is Todd and I'm a CYA test hater, as well. LOL

    Chem Question

Thanks Duraleigh. I'm going to test it again, and maybe add enough to get it to 60, then retest again before I bring it up to 70 (in case I'm messing up the reading!) Out of curiosity, what effect does water temp have regarding the CYA?

    Chem Question

Thanks guys! I'm chlorinating with the SWG. I've repeated the tests and I'm getting about 50 (same time of day). I even had my daughter do it. She got 30 once and 50 once. That further added to my confusion!! I've added no conditioner yet.

    Chem Question

Thanks, JohnT. Would rain affect the CYA reading? I planned on giving it a couple of days and retesting to see what I get. I'll check out the videos.

    Chem Question

Hi guys. This is my first post ever. My pool was completed in November (used chlorine tablets over the winter, and my SWG was never functioning because of the cold water). Once it started to warm up, I basically quit using the chlorine tablets, thinking my SWG would "kick in" - but now I know...
