    Bypass heater options

Thank you for your response. After sleeping on it, I think I will just join on the side of the heater and get it removed at a later data along with the booster pump since I don’t use it anymore. So maybe go to the SWCG at the same time. I figure contractors will be busy for awhile.

    Bypass heater options

Yet another Texas broken pipe. Pool completely froze over and has since thawed. Since we lost power, I was able to drain the pump and filter, but not the heater. One of the plugs broke literally inside the unit and after breaking the hose on the chlorine tablet feeder, figured to just leave...

Switched from Polaris to robot (Dolphin Echo) cleaner - what to do with old booster pump & side connection

Finally got my pool re-plastered (1 week ago) and retiring the old Polaris in favor of the Dolphin Echo. Last time it was in use it looked like Curly from The Three Stooges laying on its side going around in circles. Can I cap off the side connector since it does flow even without the booster...

Time for a remodel (facelift). Staples vs Polyurethane for crack repairs

Hi all and thank you for your time. Purchased current house in June of this year. Pool build is estimated to be around 2000 based on some info and style that I have. 2012 there were some major cracks that were repaired and you can see the scars from that. During the buy, they hired that...

Polaris 360 & back up valve issues

Any luck with this Caroline? I'm so annoyed with my Polaris. Back up valve stuck in on position and took the mechanism out and to my local shop and they said it looks fine. Pressure good, no leaks in the hose. About to toss this thing.

Home purchase pool with cracks previously repaired opinion

Thanks all. Just got a ballpark estimate and recommended staples, replaster and some tile replacement for $15k on the low side. Pool is roughly 700 square feet and 4' at the deepest, so not very big. No spa, water features, just simple. House itself has been maintained superbly with...

Home purchase pool with cracks previously repaired opinion

Hi all, I'm in the process of purchasing a house with a pool that has cracks previously repaired (2012). Current owner has cracks repaired and provided receipt and also has pool leak tested two weeks ago and no leaks. Concern is some of the cracks are showing visible gaps and doesn't good...

    Chlorine usage increase

Thanks for your response - will do! PH generally creeps up during the week and I've been adding about 32oz per week to keep it at 7.4

    Chlorine usage increase

CYA has been steady at 40. I haven't tested in a few weeks though since temps have risen. Possibly aim for a higher target FC level?

    Chlorine usage increase

Hi all! Just curious about chlorine usage. Im still new and been doing chemicals since January. When I started I had to add almost no chlorine and I expected it to increase with Texas sun. I'm currently aiming at 4.0 ppm and I added 1 gallon 3 days ago and today I tested .5 ppm. Water temp is...

Pump down for about 6 days for water heater replacement

Hi all, I'm about a 6 month old pool owner and have been using this site for all chemicals/cleaning info and have learned a ton. Apparently the water heater is corroded to the point that it's going to be replaced, but the repair company has the pump switched off because water will leak from...

    Spa draining water into pool

Any outcome from this? This is my issue as well in a new home purchased in Plano, TX. When the pump turns off, the spa drains down to the pool level. Doesn't make sense!

Texas pool owners - North Texas in particular regarding electric companies

Thanks all! I ended up with Gexa at 7.4c Kwh, which is WAY lower than what I've been paying in Frisco, TX at around 11.4c!

Texas pool owners - North Texas in particular regarding electric companies

Hi all, I'm new and moving into a home with about a 25k gallon pool that's equipped with a single speed pentair challenger (model not sure) and with the de-regulation of electricity I'm trying to make the best choice when it comes to electric providers. I'm moving to Plano and there are...

Want to cover, but not to close...good idea?

I'm in Dallas area and have this same question. I just bought a house with an estimated 25,000 gallon pool with attached spa that can spill into pool. My thought is to at least use the spa year around (add a cover maybe?) weekends and keep the pool open year around. Any advice would be...
