Having trouble keeping chlorine level up

Thanks for all the helpful info. I will try to run all tests when I get home tonight and also see about running the OCLT and post my results here. Also, I have been considering upgrading my chlorine generator to a Circupool RJ-60 PLUS. Any thoughts on Circupool equipment?

Having trouble keeping chlorine level up

I just tested the chlorine level. It is 2.5ppm. The pump and chlorinator have been running 24/7 at 80% since Sunday. Apparently the 8 gallons of bleach I added Sunday after dark have been used up.

Having trouble keeping chlorine level up

Sunday night I added 8 bottles of chlorine bleach because it started getting bright green algae on the walls (chlorine level tested to 2.5). I also switched my chlorinator to 80% 24/7 at the same time. It's been running 24/7 since Sunday. The water cleared up right away. I have not tested the...

Having trouble keeping chlorine level up

My main question is why I can't maintain my chlorine level higher than 1.5 to 2.5 on average. I run my T15 chlorine generator 14 hours/day at 80% (6am to 8pm every day) which I feel is longer than I should have to run it. Salt between 3100 and 3400ppm. When I check my chlorine levels I get...

How to safely drain a pool?

True. I am sure homeowners would not pay. The contractor who said his insurance would cover if it floated was talking about his business liability insurance.

How to safely drain a pool?

I believe that I do have hydro static valves in the bottom of the pool. I believe this only because there are 3 drain covers down there. I presume only one is the actual drain and the other 2 are hydro valves? However, many people say that they can fail to open if they have never been opened...

How to safely drain a pool?

My house and pool flooded on August 12th. This killed my pump of course. Here it is now Sept 17th. The water is black as night and has been sitting now for over a month and counting. I have replaced the pool pump, but since I have a cartridge filter I think I may be best off to drain the pool...

Recovering from a flood - Louisiana

Ok, I think I am going to have the pool drained and cleaned. One guy is telling me to acid wash it (have some black algae would like to deal with). Another guy is telling me do not acid wash it since the pool is only 9 years old. He claims the acid washing will make the plaster super rough and...

Recovering from a flood - Louisiana

I am located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The flood occurred on 8/12/2016 at my house. Flood waters receded in 24 - 48 hours I think. Can't be sure as I could not gain access to my property due to road closures. I really would like to drain it if possible as I can confirm that are many crayfish...

Recovering from a flood - Louisiana

We are currently recovering from a flood. The pool of course is black. The pool pump is dead. May be a week or more before I can get it replaced. Should I try to drain the pool? Leave it and dump bleach into it? Do nothing at all until I can get the pump up and running? Any advice would be...

Using up pumps left and right....

Thanks for all of the replies. I will remove and cap off the Ozone injection system and replace the pump again. Hopefully this will solve my problem.

Using up pumps left and right....

I live in South Louisiana. I had a new pool installed in February of 2009. It's a free form design with 34,000+ gallons using a Hayward 2 speed 1.5 HP pump, 2.5" pipes, chlorine generator, SmartPure Ozone generator, cartridge filter system (4 large cartridge filters). Pump runs full speed from...
