    Do fiberglass filters wear out?

I have a filter that is of unknown age. It is a 24" Pentair Triton (though I'm not sure it is Pentair as the label is not fully there; the only legible part says Triton) on a 28000 gallon fiberglass pool. I had noticed that the top of the filter would flex up to 1/4" or more when the pump...

New to the forum and pool disaster area. pic heavy

I'm not a builder, but it looks like the circulation system on that install is undersized. I don't think it will do an efficient job of turning over the water. It also looks like they ran the return jet through the bottom of the skimmer assly. I'm pretty sure that is way off from what it...

Tired of adding chlorine, more cya?

I'm thinking about bumping it to 60 and then go from there. I doubt I'll go to 80.

Tired of adding chlorine, more cya?

Chlorine pool. Just tested yesterday after a week off, so I'll post usuals and yesterdays. Yesterday FC .5 CC 0 PH 7.8 TA 80 CYA 45 ish Usuals FC 3-7 CC 0 PH 7.4 - 7.6 TA 75-80 CYA 45ish Never falls outside of that, or I never allow it to. Minimal acid use required, minimal TA adjustments...

Tired of adding chlorine, more cya?

I have a 28000 gallon fiberglass inground. Since using the BBB method everything is so easy, balanced, and cheap with pool maintenance, but I feel like I have to add bleach too frequently. Because of the size of my pool, losing half to 2/3 of my FC per day due to sunlight really takes its...

Question about junk getting through filter

Finally got back to this. It was the directional filter gasket. It was marred up something nasty. Looks like it has been out of the gasket tracks since it was installed, and I think it was installed updside down. Am I correct that the gasket needs to be installed rounded side up?

Question about junk getting through filter

I plan on capping the air relief to test soon.. As far as the spa jets, I have not run them more than about 5 minutes yet just to check they work. I'll have to try that out. Thanks!

Question about junk getting through filter

Just getting back to this. I still haven't narrowed where the particulate is passing, though it has to be in one of those two locations (air pressure bypass or chlorinator) as those are the only two unfiltered areas. The mysterious pipe that has holes I may have figured out. I live in an area...

Question about junk getting through filter

I just noticed looking at the pictures. What about the chlorinator? Even though I have it turned to 1 or 2, could it be allowing the debris to pass? That debris is after about 8 hours of running. I have never noticed the chlorinator doing anything wheter at 5 or at 1. I burp it every time...

Question about junk getting through filter

The multiport is fine. It is less than 1 year old, too. The sand was replaced less than 3 months ago. I am guessing there is a problem with the air relief tube as well. I guess the only way to get at this is to start scooping sand one cup at a time, eh? I didn't need a booster. I have...

Question about junk getting through filter

No cracks on those, but the strainer basket (the one by the pump right) does not lock in place. I have a rock in it to hold it down. I don't know if it is supposed to lock or not. It has an indexing tang that lines it up, but it doens't lock to the bottom of the housing. The first thing I...

Question about junk getting through filter

Still very much green in the world of pools. I have a neighbor with pampus grass (drops lots of seed pod things this time of year) and I have to clean my baskets about daily of the junk. What I have noticed, and it also happens with some grass clippings, is that the in line filter on my...

    Beaded liner coming off...

I used to install above ground pools and that is no big deal. They will come out, pop the cover off, stretch the liner enough to get the rail over it and then recap it.
