Hurlcon VX 9 or Viron Salt Chlorinator V35

Hi - I am having trouble choosing between Hurlcon VX 9 or Viron Salt chlorinator V35 55,000 L pool. I will be running the Viron P320. I understand the VX9 is an older model - but pool builders seem to favour them still? Is there anything wrong with the Viron V35? Kind reg

    Changing pool piping

My pool reno is coming along - pipes laid - coping done. I will be hooking up the equipment soon. Are there any special valves I will need? Do I need a valve on the backwash pipe that leads to the sewer? ie How do I stop sewer air/gas entering into the filter? Do i need a check valve at the...

    Reading pump curves

I am trying to work our it it is worth while buying a Variable speed pump (viron p320) with the below flow curve. I have 9.5 meters of piping from the skimmer to the pump, and about 8.5m from filter to second outlet point. (about 18m of total piping alone). Does the below curve suggest I need...

    Changing pool piping

The pool renovators finally arrive today. Your assistance would be appreciated with a few issues that came up - as I need to make some decisions fast before they return in a few days time. ISSUE 1. The renovators drilled new holes in the side of the pool and laid 40mm pipe instead of 50mm. That...

    Intsalling high pressure shower feature

I am confused about which pump to get: (1) 2HP 1500W Max. Pump Rate: 33,000L/hr (550L/ min) Max. Head: 18.5m 0r (2) 2.5hp 1800W Max Flow Rate: 36,000 litres /hr (600 litres /min) Head: 17 m The 2HP has more head - but less flow. I am thinking I need more flow rate as I will be running...

    Changing pool piping

It appears my pump will be below the skimmer port. I was hoping to have 2 check valves before the pumps - one for the main filter pump, and other to control a shower feature that will be used occasionally. Because my pump will be below the skimmer port, will I need another valve before the...

Sand filters - is bigger, better?

Hi guys, being new to pools and to this forum - this is what I learn so far in terms of having an efficient setup (keeping power bills down): PUMP- bigger isn't better. Get the right size pump, or slower running pump - running longer is better. PIPES - Bigger diameter is generally better...

    Changing pool piping

Wow - I am surprised to hear that. There seems to be many views expressing the opposite. Logically - one would think a gradual curve will cause less friction than a 90 degree one. A car can travel faster around a curve - than it can around sharp corner. However - I trust this forum - and I...

    Changing pool piping

Is there a point where its not worth having 2 x 45 elbows together? is how far should they be apart to make it worth while having them - as oppose to just having 1 x 90 degree connector. Mil

    Changing pool piping

Hi guys, I have laid down my 50mm pipe layout roughly - can you please advise if this is OK- or I should do something else to optimise the setup before I start pain-staking digging. This is my last chance to get it right. Few points: 1. I have the option of having the pump lower than...

    Changing pool piping

With the way my pool is set on a slight slope - I have the option to: 1. Have the pump below the skimmer outlet 2. Same height as the skimmer outlet 3. Higher than the skimmer outlet Which is the best option in terms of efficiency for my variable speed pump? Also - this forum mentions and...

    Changing pool piping

I just drained the dirty water out of my skimmer - and it appears the outlet inside the skimmer is 50mm. I can see a thread on on the 50mm port from the inside. There are two ports on each side also - they are blocked - and those are 40mm. These side ports are higher than the 50mm on the...

    45 degree connectors or curve

I am from Sydney Australia. I thought because my question relate to different topics - I need different threads and titles. Sorry - I am new to this. I am placing down new plumbing - so I want to take the opportunity to do it right - since we have to dig holes etc. 40mm pipes vs 50mm pipes...

    Intsalling high pressure shower feature

A 2 inch fire hose I imagine will pack a lot of punch. If this is the case - I think I am on the right track with 50mm piping (ie 2 inch piping). 560lpm (from 2HP pump) = 147.9GPM - so that should be enough pressure for a nice strong massaging shower.

    Intsalling high pressure shower feature

I dont have specs of the shower yet - all I know is that the manufacturer says that they need a 2HP pump connected to it. The specs I provided were for that 2HP pump. I will try to get the actual spec for the shower. I will be running 50mm piping from the skimmer to these pumps - but my...
