    That Jandy tri-sensor adapter

I'm using the aquapure 1400 and my tri-sensor adapter is actually working. I know... you're all shocked. But something else has gone wrong. My equipment has an additional water temp sensor that's wired into my Jandy control center. That sensor shorted and my aquapure doesn't turn on. After I...

The PoolCleaner and a zero-entry pool

I'm giving up on The PoolCleaner. The only solution I can think of is to build some sort of barrier. I think I could make something out of PVC that would work in my situation. It's kinda a pain though. The TPC would be the 3rd pool vac i've used. The first was the Hayward Navigator, which had...

The PoolCleaner and a zero-entry pool

Can't really do much with the hose. It's at a length that'll allow the vac to cover the whole pool and the entry is shy of that length. I've been messing with some floats to see if placing them on the hose further above the vac would help... but it doesn't seem to work. I'm going to see if...

The PoolCleaner and a zero-entry pool

Any tips on how to keep the suction-side PoolCleaner inside the pool? It keeps trying to leave. I've been using a Zodiac MX8. It requires nearly constant cleaning to maintain smooth operation and the cleaner itself is pretty restrictive on water flow. For me the MX8 has been more trouble than...

what would you add or change?

If your spa is raised 12" off of the surround decking i'd add another 6" so the wall can be used as a bench seat. 12" is too low for a seat... but if the whole deck is raised 12" no worries. Also, i had a pool with a 6.5' deep end and it wasn't deep enough for safe diving. 8' is good. Good luck!

So it begins...my unconventional build..i'm callin' it done

Re: So it begins...my unconventional build..i'm callin' it d Well done BigDav. It came out really nice and I love how the pavers are square to the pool but diagonal to the house. It looks great. It's nice seeing owner-builders pull off a project of this size.

You've successfully convinced me that I'm crazy. Thanks Bama :).

    Am I crazy?

Thanks Bama. If I run all gates wide open and crank the rpms above 3000 my pump gets pretty noisy and it sounds like pushing gravel. It's worth mentioning that my pump is probably 4 feet above water and, while i've never measured, i don't believe I have much "head" from the return lines. It's...

    Am I crazy?

I was hoping to improve a few things. - I was wondering if going bigger would solve the cavitation issue. - If the pump had extra capacity available to pull more water I was thinking I wouldn't need to leave the second skimmer gate mostly closed (in the picture it's all the way open, but in...

    Am I crazy?

The answer is probably yes, but read on: My pool is now almost a year old and it's working fine. It was an owner-builder endeavor that went pretty well, but I've never been completely satisfied with the plumbing. The guy I hired to do the work wasn't great and it was clear his knowledge was...

    PH and TA

Thanks chem geek! I'll try it with more patience this time.

    PH and TA

It's scale buildup on pool surfaces, specifically, around my spillway. There is a lot more opportunity for evaporation there I suppose. If you have a moment I have a method question. Using the pool calculator I need to add about 100oz of baking soda to get a rise in TA from 50ppm to 70ppm. I've...

    PH and TA

Chem geek... I can't really point to a specific reason for the scale beyond PH. My CH is around 300ppm... not bad. When I first started the pool, perhaps 9 months ago I had a TA of around 80 and I was adjusting PH downward to 7.4 or 7.6 weekly. I really stopped paying much attention to TA at...

    PH and TA

Thanks Richard. Is there reason to be concerned about a TA of 50? My CH is around 300ppm. Originally, I thought it was higher and the main source of my scaling problem but it was really just PH creep.

    PH and TA

I know I should totally search more, but I'm not finding much info on my issue. People seem to have problems keeping PH and TA down, but I need to raise TA and lower PH. I thought I was doing a pretty good job at keeping my pool balanced until I started seeing more and more scaling. I've...

    Help me identify this valve

Here is picture of the inside. It turns out it's a regular 3-way valve, but with no identifying markings anywhere. How is a guy supposed to get parts for this POS? Perhaps this may help someone recognize the thing. You can see on the ground a jandy valve i brought over to see if it would fit. It...

    Help me identify this valve

I think the other word is "unlock". This happens to be my friends pool and I'll need to ask what it says to be certain... but pretty sure it's "unlock". If no one recognizes this thing taking it apart would be our next step. Thanks.

    Help me identify this valve

I believe this is a check valve... and it has a cracked cover causing a slow leak. I'd like to find a rebuild kit, but I'm not sure who made it. Unfortunately, the PB put the plumbing for this valve under concrete decking leaving no easy way to replace the entire unit. I just have a 6" access...

Something to seal grout... help me stop seepage

When the pump isn't running the grout is wet until the water in the spa finds its level. It hits its level just below where the flagstone sits on top of the dam wall. No water is getting through the dam wall. It's actually going over the wall... but under the stone... if that makes sense. I...

Something to seal grout... help me stop seepage

I picture would help, I think. In the pic below you can see the calcium buildup just below the top flagstone on top of the dam wall. Water is seeping underneath these pieces. I was thinking I could seal the back side of the dam wall below these stones to eliminate the seepage. I keep my PH...

Something to seal grout... help me stop seepage

I'm sure there is an easy answer to this... but for the life of me I'm not sure what to use. I'm trying to prevent the tiny grout cracks along the inside wall of my spillway from letting water through. Picture this: I have a flagstone spillway from my spa to the pool. The top of the spillway...

    Sealer for flagstone spillway

Think it'll make grout waterproof? I was thinking that there might be something that would prevent the inevitable cracks, or minor gap, that'll appear between the bottom of the flagstone coping and the grout.

    Gas Line question

In my situation my pipe steps up from 1" at the meter to 2" for a long run to the heater then back down to the size required by my heater... which is 3/4. My 400K heater works pretty efficiently. The guy from the gas co connected the meter and 1" pipe to my heater run when he installed a higher...

    Gas Line question

Couple things... and I'm not a plumber so please speak with a professional before you do this. My take is that if you have a 400K BTU heater the 1" at your meter may be fine (and if it isn't you can increase it later). You may also need a bigger meter, and with a run of 90' you may want a...
