    CYA, TA and CH questions...

I put in 4 lbs of CYA in a nylon stocking in front of my return and the pump speed is set to quick clean at 2450 right now and I'd say 2.5-3 lbs of it is gone already. Is this bad for the pool or the equipment? Is it releasing too fast. It's only been about an 1-1/2 to 2 hours. I thought it...

    CYA, TA and CH questions...

I used 25ml and multiplied it by 10. Isn't that the correct way to test the CH? I tested my refill water and it is the same alkalinity as the pool water.

    CYA, TA and CH questions...

So I tested my water last night with my TFTestKit100 and here are the results: CYA 30-40 TA 120 CH 180 A pool guy told me not to raise my CH because we get plenty hard water here and they are often draining pools in the area because pool water is too hard. Should I raise my CH or is it okay...

    Umbrella sleeves in tanning ledge

I am having a hard time finding umbrellas with 1.5" poles. Where do you get them? Most are 2" poles.

Salt PPM changing on me, why?

He tested it with my tf100 test kit. If it went from 50-20 in a month or two, could I have a leak or something? I'm not losing a lot of water though. Or maybe he just test it wrong. He put in 9 lbs to start-up. Would that be enough for a 24K gallon pool? Does it matter what brand of CYA I...

Salt PPM changing on me, why?

My start-up guy tested it. Should I not be able to see the black dot AT ALL for the CYA test? If so, we are down to the 20s.

Salt PPM changing on me, why?

So should I add some salt just to be safe or just leave it be? I have about a 24k gallon pool. Also, how accurate is the CYA and CH test on the TF100 Test Kit? I am showing that it is testing at about 130 for CH and only 20 for CYA. However, my start-up guy said that I should not be anywhere...

Salt PPM changing on me, why?

The low salt light came on on my swg yesterday. So yesterday I tested the salt content with the K-1766 salt test kit and it was 2800 ppm. It was 3200 ppm last week. This morning the light went off and I tested it again, it is at 3000 ppm. So what is going on with my tests and water? Why is...

How do I raise FC in a salt pool?

Thanks. My current PH is 7.8. And my salt is 3200 ppm and it is not saying I am high or low. And I am using the TFTest Kit 100 and salt test kit with the speed-stir.

How do I raise FC in a salt pool?

My free chlorine level is ranging from 1 to 1.5. To raise it is it best to use liquid chlorine or add salt to the pool? I have a swg and couldn't find if I could raise it with salt or if I could use liquid chlorine to raise it since I have a salt pool. Also, my CH is 150. Where is the best...

Starting new pool build in SoCal as an owner builder-gulp!

Here are some pictures of the water color with kids swimming in it. Again, we used Stonscapes Tropic Blue and added some blue and clear glass beads and some abalone shells. We love it. The shelf isn't quite blue enough for us but the other color depths are fantastic. The deep end above The...

Got our cover on and hoop and netting in. Still trying to get irrigation completed so we can plant more GREEN AND COLOR! We are doing it ourselves so it's slow going. There is a lot of hard scape, so I'm looking forward to getting our plants and such in. Our Fern Pine trees went into shock...

Starting new pool build in SoCal as an owner builder-gulp!

Pebble color before water in it. Pebble color on step after water in it Day after completion As it was filling. It took about 32 hours to fill. We added a second hose the last 8hours and it went a lot faster. About a week after full our pool hoop blew into the pool during a rainstorm. No...

Starting new pool build in SoCal as an owner builder-gulp!

I was worried about the calcium coming through the pool wall with water that came through my shotcrete after it was poor and after the pebble was installed. However, ever since the water has been in the pool, there hasn't been a problem and my subcontractor's said this would be the case.
