Thx for the suggestions about the pool school and the links. Read them all and my question answered very well.

    Liquid Clorine and Muriatic Acid

I read that many of you use liquid clorine and muriatic acid in your ABG Pool. I thought my local pool store said you should use the powdered stuff. I didn't read anything in the pool manual that said anything either way. What do you all think is the best way. Any advantages to either, or...

Converting Intex Pool to Hayward Pump

Thx for your reply. At this point I have two holes where Intex Inlets were and I'm looking for 1.5 inch fittings that will go through the wall and attach to 1.5 inch plumbing or hoses. I'd like to take Intex out of the picture because I don't think they are compatible with anything else.

Through the wall skimmer plumbing question.

When installing a through the wall skimmer should you have two suction side returns to the pump and one for pushing water back into the pool? I notice the instrux say to do it that way but I also think I see from some pics here that some of you have one for each. Any advantages or drawbacks...

Converting Intex Pool to Hayward Pump

I know much has been written about upgrading an Intex Pool like mine, 9x18x52 Ultra Frame to a more standard Hayward pump with 1.5 fittings. In fact I've read so much my head is spinning. I was hoping someone could tell me the simplest way they've found to do it. Here's what I know so far...

Hayward pump/filter and need for leaf trap

Thank you, good answer. But again most of the time, 95 per cent at least, the pool is covered. No animals, very few leaves, most things land on the cover etc. I just worry about the risk, reward of cutting that big hole when the benefit seems so small. Anyone here had one in their pool for 3...

Hayward pump/filter and need for leaf trap

Thanks for the pics. Love seeing them. I'm wondering about the wisdom of cutting holes in these pools. They're not meant to be that way and have no reinforcement around the hole. Does anyone ever have problems with tears, etc a few years down the road or even sooner?

Hayward pump/filter and need for leaf trap

No. I know its way too big but one day want to upgrade current pool. Will it hurt my pool now to have and use it a couple of hours a day? Thanks.

Hayward pump/filter and need for leaf trap

Thanks for your answer. I have a 9x18x52 Intex Ultra Frame. With no skimmer. Yesterday I wrote that my solar blanket is on 24/7 except when I go in the pool, 3 or 4 times a week for an hour or two. So a skimmer would do very little skimming in my application. Can't see a reason to cut a...

Hayward pump/filter and need for leaf trap

Thinking about getting a 1.5 hp Hayward Pump/150 sq/ft filter combo. It comes with a strainer attached. Should I should use a leaf trap when I vacuum from the intake side of the pool wall or is the strainer on the pump good enough to catch things that might hurt the pump like leaves and...

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

I agree about salt on the frame. We rinse it completely off after every use. It's worth the extra couple minutes for the convenience of not having to maintain the chemistry. All of last summer and all winter this year I didn't add anything to the water. Checked it every week, fine. Took a...

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

I have a Saltron salt water generator. Had it for about a year. Has worked perfectly. Cost is about 100.00.

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

Thx to all. I checked out the link. It's like what I'm considering but that particular pump on Amazon got a terrible review, the only one, because of a so called design flaw in the lid. Did you you know what he's talking about? Anything to be concerned about?

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

Thanks again. If I to buy a Hayward combination pump/filter would they be matched well? Can you have a pump/filter that is too big for your pool? Or is bigger better?

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

Makes sense to me. Are you thinking it might be a waste of time then to cut a hole in my pool if it's covered the vast majority of the time? Are there any other benefits to an in wall skimmer that would make me want to do it anyway. Thanks for the pump recommendation. By the way, why sand...

Will In Wall Skimmer Work While Solar Blanket on Pool

We have an Intex 9x18 ultra frame pool. Thinking about installing an in wall skimmer. We keep a solar blanket on 24/7 unless we're in the pool. Will the skimmer work effectively with the blanket in the water? What horsepower pump would we need for a 5000 gallon pool to run it well. Thank you.

    Through the wall skimmer

We have an Intex Ultra Frame Pool. Thinking about installing a skimmer. I'm wondering how advisable it is to cut a hole in the liner. It just doesn't seem right to me, but I know many of you have. Everywhere on the liner where the manufacturer puts a hole the liner it's reinforced. When you...

    pump, filter, leaf trap, configuration

We have an Intex 9x18x52 Ultra Frame pool, also an upgraded 2500 gph cartridge filter. Thinking of upgrading the pump/filter again. My question has to do with the configuration of pumps and filters. It seems that from the suction side of the pool the water goes through the pump first then the...

cutting whole in Intex Ultra Frame above ground pool

How safe or dangerous is it to cut a whole in an Intex Ultraframe above ground pool to install a skimmer. Any one do it? Is it advisable or can it weaken the integrity of the liner? Any caveats, suggestions, etc? We are in Southern CA and leave it up all year. Thank you.

    Intex pool leak

We set up an Intex oval 9x18 above ground pool at the end of last summer and used it for about a month. Then covered it well and are going to ride out the winter here in San Diego County, (mild weather) with it up. Not sure if it was a good idea to leave it up, maybe someone can comment on...

    Winterizing Intex Saltwater Pool

Thank you. It is well covered. Are you saying turn off the SWG. What product can I use to bring it to shock level. Sorry I'm a complete neophyte. Water may dip below 60. Nights are usually 55-65 degrees.

    Winterizing Intex Saltwater Pool
