Is Taylor R-0002 same as R-0871

I ran out of my R-0871 from my Taylor K-2006 and went to LPS and they did not have any but had R-0002 in the 2oz size and said it was the same. So, any thoughts. Is it the same?

    SLAM and Ph

Thanks. I saw that in the Pool School but did not know how low FC had to be. If my FC/CYA ratio calls for FC to be between 7-12 due to high CYA level (90) should I keep FC below 10 so pH will be accurate? I do plan to drain in a few months to get CYA down. .

I am on the downhill side of my first SLAM. At what point do I start adjusting the pH. Will high FC levels give a false pH reading?

    Help with first SLAM

Ok. I have 2 more questions. 1. With FC in mid 30's during SLAM, is any danger of damaging plaster? 2. After SLAM is complete how do I get the FC lower to normal levels?

    Help with first SLAM

Nevermind last question on pH. I read in pool school do adjust pH before you start since the ph test will be not accurate during SLAM.

    Help with first SLAM

I have only added liquid bleach. I do have landscaping behind my weeping wall, but I did not notice any debris. Also, I have deck drains around the pool so no water drains into the pool.

    Help with first SLAM

Ok, need some advise. It rained over 5 inches over the weekend at my house. Tested yesterday with my K-2006 kit and got high CC so I started to SLAM. This morning my FC was 28.5 and CC was 15. Is it possible to have that much CC. Water looks clear and no algae to the naked eye. I added more...

New Pool CYA at 90... Do I drain or wait?

Yes, water is clear. Since I live in Texas, we will use it thru Oct. I planned on keeping it up all year unless there is a better way. I will keep FC between 9-10. Should I increase Borates to 50?

Newbie Here. Question with Phosphates and FC/Cya Ratio

Thanks Jason and Ike. Hey Ike, what part of SW LA are you in? Got one more question for you guys. With my CYA being 70. My min FC should be a 5 based on the proper ratio. How come it seems like the local pool stores all say 1-4PPM. I guess the ration just seems high to a new person that...

Newbie Here. Question with Phosphates and FC/Cya Ratio

Ok, I have decided that I will use the liquid chlorine route and turn the chlorinator off. All the Phosphate issue came to light when a Leslies store tested for it and showed high, then next morning I tested water and showed 0 chlorine. Just so happened that my pool builder was at my house...

Newbie Here. Question with Phosphates and FC/Cya Ratio

Thanks Guys, Jason... The results came from LPS. I used 20oz of Orenda PR-10,000 phosphate remover. I will not worry about Phosphates anymore. I did have a lady that owns a LPS close by my house that she don't even test for it because it is just another chemical to sale. I thought that was...

Newbie Here. Question with Phosphates and FC/Cya Ratio

I have a new pool that is one month old. 18,500 gunite with pebble plaster. I hear conflicting stories regarding phosphates in pools. My chlorine levels went to zero this week. Pool builder said check phosphates because it can cause low chlorine readings. I have several questions for you...
