Bone dry!

Culprit below. I cleaned up the motor, primer and painted it where it had corroded. We will see if any internal motor damage reveals itself in the future.

Pentair said it was out of warranty.

Or - can I just try to replace the seals on this motor and keep using it?

The motor is a 3 hp variable speed pentair intelliflo. What is the benefit of switching to the v-green motors as referenced above and is it a difficult swap?

The pump pictured below is only 3 years old. Has anyone seen failure like this before?

I’m in St Louis. I guess if I have to run all that pipe above ground (ugly), I could just put it around the side of the house. That bush is on a corner.

It’s a free form in-ground salt water pool. I don’t have exact specs, but I’m guessing 17k gallon. Sand filter with an intelliflo variable speed pump. I was thinking gas for the heater, but between space constraints and building codes, I’m not sure where it could go. I’d like to keep it all...

I haven’t decided - any recommendations? Just looking for configuration ideas right now. I know it needs to be plumbed after the filter, but there isn’t really room to drop a heater in there the way it sits.

Reposting another picture of my setup for opinions on the best way to plumb in a heater.

In the pic of the filter valve above, you can see caulk like material used in the screw in connectors. It isn’t coming loose easily...could that be some kind of glue?

I was thinking this exact same thing and realized that valve is accessing plumbing that was put in for a water slide at some point in the future. So, embarrassingly enough, I could technically cut that valve out and cap it off until I decide to get a slide. I did order the stuff though along...

I don’t understand the “spreading out” the valves comment. Can someone clarify?

There is no room on that side - that’s why I’m trying to reuse the union piece. I wish more thought was put into future repairs when installing.

I was just planning on cutting where the red line is below and rebuilding everything from the salt cell union through the valve body, reusing the union glued to the elbow coming out of the concrete. Are you suggesting an alternate approach to rebuild the entire manifold?

I might’ve just found it. What is the difference between ‘S’ and ‘FPT’ below?
