    3" chlorine tabs without CYA

Funny! Just today I asked the local pool dealer about why they didn't carry 3" tablets without CYA. He said "without chlorine?" I said "No, without Cyanuric Acid." He said he thought they could special order them for me. Uh hu... So yeah, even 6 years later, we all have the same questions.

Pool store says Sodium Hydrogen is 3X stronger than Sodium Bicarbonate.

Good one! - - - Updated - - - And that is surely the best advice I've seen.

New pool owner, started with a swamp

Those are two amazing pictures. Congratulations! I just have to ask, why didn't you drain it, clean it and refill it? Wouldn't that have been better/quicker/easier?

Pool store says Sodium Hydrogen is 3X stronger than Sodium Bicarbonate.

Great answers from lifetime members, moderators and TFP Experts... it is sort of amazing here. In my 54 years nowhere have I found such consistently awful advice from any business sector and such a great web site full of experts to refute the snake-oil sales. Thanks to all here at...

Pool store says Sodium Hydrogen is 3X stronger than Sodium Bicarbonate.

That was beautiful... resorting to the Material Safety Data Sheets, my hat is off to you! Now, I wonder if someone could debunk a whole lot of other products using this method. What exactly is "Maintenance Oxidizer" or "Burnout 73" or "Scale Inhibitor" or "Natural Clarifier" or "Algae All 60"...

Pool store says Sodium Hydrogen is 3X stronger than Sodium Bicarbonate.

I most certainly shouldn't what? Believe their BS I presume?

Pool closed for the month of July!

Hi folks! Returned home after a month to a sparkling pool, but with FC at 15 and CYA level at 150. (This was from using 4 pucks plus 1 gallon of bleach every 5 days for a month.) Thanks for your input. Guess I'll water the yard plants with pool water this year! Bo, have a tall one on me -...

Pool store says Sodium Hydrogen is 3X stronger than Sodium Bicarbonate.

Howdy friends! I get backup test results from the local pool store, Patio pools & Spa's of Tucson AZ. Maybe I shouldn't! They are recommending I use their product, Biogard "Balance pack 100" to raise my Total Alkalinity, but I use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. The representative said "Oh this is...

Thanks Michael. I'll go back to minding my own business now! Good Luck!! :)

Pool closed for the month of July!

Thanks to everyone for their fine answers! I don't know how steadily 3" triclor pucks dispense their chlorine, or over what time period. They surely release more at the onset than when they are half size about 3-4 days later. Bo, are you accounting for the pucks releasing some chlorine on...

Pool closed for the month of July!

It's summer here in Tucson - time to go somewhere cooler for a month, but unlike a pet, the pool has to stay home. I don't want to complicate my friend's life who is willing to care for our "pool pet" with daily maintenance and I'm looking for any shortcuts I can find. My plan is to have them...

Test Results in on the Cesspit!

Just a curious bystander here, enjoying the site and this thread. A month has shown a world of progress on Michael's pool, but I just have to ask... wouldn't it have been faster, cheaper and especially easier to just empty it completely and refill? Am I missing the point? Thanks, Bob

    What is this module?

Via e-mail I invited their representative to come have a look at our discussion. Maybe he will present his side. His name is Tom Baumstark of BuenoVerde/Lectro-Pure Products When I did clean my filter yesterday there was a ton of white flaky material in the filter... is that scaling...

    What is this module?

Well, this is interesting. It seems there are big claims to what this does, from the Lecto-Pure website: A clean, green natural means to treat pool and spa water. Designed to reduce unsightly scale, control algae and bacteria, stabilize pH, improve the effectiveness of chlorine and other...

    What is this module?

That's it!!! I'm going to ask them about a repair... my repair failed after just a few hours, and I don't want to cut a pipe and try making things worse.

    What is this module?

It gave me an excuse to clean out my filters leastwise, and it is still holding. Maybe someone (smart) could add the photo to the ID chart here on this forum. Thanks everybody, Bob

    What is this module?

This did indeed turn out to be some sort of magnetic scale reduction filter. Since it has no moving parts I've attempted a quick fix using epoxy - see the photos. It is holding at the moment. Thanks for the help everyone. Bob

    What is this module?

No, it does not seem to be magnetic. I am surprised that there isn't an easy obvious answer. If it weren't leaking I'd never have even wondered. I will be able to check with the pool builder tomorrow. If I find an answer before this forum does (I'd be shocked) I'll post it. Thanks, Bob

    What is this module?

[attachment=0:30qsxwdv]Pool filter.jpg[/attachment:30qsxwdv] Hi, Yep, my first pool. I have some sort of inline module between my pool pump and my large egg shaped pool filter. Here is a picture of it - as you can see any information on the label faded long before I came along. This is a...
