    Pressure Change on Sand Filter

G'Day All, Thanks for all the ideas. Mark, you hit it on the head. Somehow a couple of leaves got past the basket. Had two of the impeller ports blocked, so down goes the flow, with the pressure. Thanks again. TJ.

    Pressure Change on Sand Filter

G'Day All, At the beginning of this season, I upgraded from a small cartridge filter system to a 22" sand filter. Installation went great, and my pool season was the easiest in memory. Upon initial start-up and through the season, the pressure guage showed 15lb, and rose slowly through the...

    Thermostat problems..........

G'Day All, I need some help diagnosing a problem, please. We have a Tiger River (Hot Springs) spa, older model. It is not big, but does great for its size for us. We are having temp problems, though. One Day, I will go out to check things, and the temp will be at 101 deg (my wife likes it...

Pool Fire??? Ash in the pool ......

Thanks for the idea. I have closed the pool now. I disconnected the return hose from the pool and vaccuumed the pool with no filter in place and got it good and clean. The vaccuum job was just enough to lower the water level to the bottom of skimmer, so I didn't have to siphon as much to...

Pool Fire??? Ash in the pool ......

Thank you all for your replies. I can see I didn't do the best job explaining my question, so I'll try again. No, the ash can't be netted out. It is a fine silt, almost in solution. No, I don't intend to leave the ash there for the winter. If I try to vacuum through the filter cartridges, I...

Pool Fire??? Ash in the pool ......

G'Day All, Well, this last week has been one of testing the patience and fortitude. Last Monday afternoon, a huge windstorm came through the area, and, with gusts between 40 and 70mph, there naturally was a huge fire. It burned about half of my in-laws 25k acre cattle ranch, as well as 20k...

    Filter Pump is tripping breaker

As far as the connection to ground/neutral, there is a white wire that should come from the breaker to the neutral bar. This is the wire that is used by the GFCI to test and route the ground fault should one occur. If the wire is loose, it might present enough resistance for the GFCI to pop...

    Filter Pump is tripping breaker

G'day All, If it is a GFCI breaker, check the connection to the neutral/ground in the box. If it loses its neutral/ground, it will trip constantly. But, breakers were never designed to be constant use switches, so you could easily have a bad breaker. Good Luck, TJ.

    Help with filter size.......

Thanks, Adam & John. I see what you mean about the price, although many of the places I've found show much more than $50 between them --- some as much as $150. That is why I was concerned. It is confusing to me, though, how they (Hayward) can put a 1.5 hp motor on an 18" filter. Seems the...

    Help with filter size.......

G'Day All, I need help with sizing a sand filter. Money is an issue, so I would like to get the smallest filter (price) and yet provide adequate filtering for the pool. I have a good pump, but don't know the flow. The pool store says they need to know the flow before they can recommend a...

    A Late Bloomer ----------

G'Day All, I will try to keep to the short version of this story, but understand that with 7 kids (5 at home), stories never seem to be short ------ We live here in Eastern Washington State on an 800 acre wheat/horse ranch. We also live about 7 miles from one of the largest man-made...
