So far the sand I bought at Home Depot has been perfect with no problems. When I purchased the new Sand filter it came with 2 new hoses. I simply took 1 of my old intex hoses and hooked it up to the waste output for backwashing.

Last fall, a hospital stay and recovery time kept me away from closing my AGP. It resulted in a dark green mess this spring. Well after 2 weeks of keeping shock levels constant, I can finally see the bottom of the pool. Current readings FC:17 CC:2 PH:7.2 CYA:40. Looks like I'm close to the end...

I have 5 left over trichlor 3"m pucks since I converted over to the BBB method. How much would those 5 pucks raise the CYA?

Further update on Dollar General. I had a coupon for $5 off any purchase of $25 or more. Bleach on sale at $2.50 per jug, so 10 jugs $25 less coupon ended up $2 per jug. Yippee!!!

Water temp is in the 60's right now. But with this early warm weather. the water has been getting warmer.

I also just recently upgraded my intex pump to the sand filter. Home Depot had the pool filter sand for around $6 for a 50lb bag

Ok is there any chart on the effect of sunlight on chlorine. I have an above ground Intex 18x48 about 7500 gallons. My CYA is 40. How quickly at this level does sunlight burn off the bleach added?

The added dichlor should still keep your CYA close to 30 considering it was around 20 before the dichlor was added. Keep shock levels up by adding bleach.
