    Chronic mustard algae

Also, the pool supply guy suggested that since the algae was so high that there is still residual dead algae that the clarifier couldn't deal with and he suggests adding more.

    Chronic mustard algae

I had my son test again and I took a sample to the pool supply shop and had them test it: My son's readings: FC: 8 (there was no change when tested for CC), pH 7.8 (it went up!) CA: 220, TA 110, CYA 80. Pool Supply Shop: FC 10, pH 7.8, TA 110, CYA 60, CC negligible. I don't remember CA.

    Chronic mustard algae

By the way, the filter has been freshly cleaned and we ran if for 16 hours. It has good pressure and the vacuum scurries all over the bottom so I don't think that is the problem.

    Chronic mustard algae

Thank you, I understand I am not aggressive enough. I am shy on spending so much money on chlorine so I don't do the job all the way. I am dealing with it now more properly. But now I have a perhaps new problem. I got rid of the yellow poofy algae and the pool is lovely blue again however...

    Chronic mustard algae

It's back!. After the Baptism, the pool was cloudy so I shocked it by adding 6 gallons of chlorine. (50+ people swam in it that day). That seemed to clear it up but then I went away to my son's soccer tournament for a few days and came back to a cloudy pool again. I finally got a test kit...

    Chronic mustard algae

Sorry, didn't notice the question. The appearance of the algae is gone now but I've been tricked by this before. If it grows back again, I'll take the picture. Comparing it with pictures of mustard algae I see on the net, it seems the same only with no floating blobs. It grows all over but...

    Chronic mustard algae

Still working on this. Last night, chlorine level was 12 based on my dilution. This morning, it was 4. It's still perfectly clear but I guess the chlorine drop tells me there's still a lot going on here. Still brushing the sides, adding 2 gallons chlorine a day and son cleaned the filter...

    Chronic mustard algae

Thank you. My 16 year old son does the work, by the way but I took over this week to tackle this problem. We usually use liquid chlorine from Home Depot along with a few floating pucks. Lately, the pucks have dissipated and I haven't replaced them. i will look into getting the accurate test...

    Chronic mustard algae

Where? I had this problem before, many times. It looks like dirt at first but the water gets cloudy with this yellowy-green/brownish stuff that poofs when you try to brush it. It seems to grow on the walls as much as the floor, and after two days the water looks like a glowing green blob...

    Chronic mustard algae

I just noticed the part in the mustard algae article that gives an even higher shock level for mustard algae. Guess I'll be getting twice as chlorine at Home Depot than I thought.

    Chronic mustard algae

I got the reading from the pool supply store (it's the only resource I had). Whenever I had it tested, even at different places , it was always perfect so I am assuming the 52 is close. Yes, I already see the problem as water from my house has .6 ppm chlorine. Distilled water is a good...

    Chronic mustard algae

in the process of mustard algae Mod Edit: Please keep all of you posts on this issue in one thread. Thanks, moderator linen Still working on this. I went ahead and used the last of the ammonia based algaecide that I had left from the last three breakouts. (I've got to have this cleared by...

    Chronic mustard algae

I don't know what my CYA is only that the pool supply business said it was "perfect" and that the tablets have completely dissolved and I was about to add 4 new ones.

    Chronic mustard algae

This is a non copper algacide and I look forward to not using it anymore. Can you buy these test kits without ordering one? I am reading the information, by the way.

    Chronic mustard algae

Thank you. I already have a ("vastly inferior") test kit and I don't have time to order a good one but that will happen in the future. Right now, with 50 people coming over for a baptism on Saturday, will SLAM get rid of the problem by then? I don't want to use algaecide either but I feel my...

    Chronic mustard algae

Mustard algae. I have treated the pool several times with algaecide and shock chlorine only to have it grow right back. My daughter gives private swim lessons and we se our pool for baptisms etc. a lot so I can't have it out of commission so much. Is it true that chlorine doesn't kill mustard...

Hello. This is my second year with a pool and I thought I knew what I was doing. This year I have a constantly mustardy/green pool. I have a lot to learn and a lot of questions. Thank you for letting me listen to all yours.
