Significantly different PH in deep end versus shallow end?

Yes, there is a drain down there but the water is definitely more still in the deep end as it looks to me like they should have put in an extra jet or two.

Significantly different PH in deep end versus shallow end?

Yes, pool has been running all day and always take the readings above the elbow deep. The deep end has worse circulation for sure as the spa waterfall really moves the water on the shallow end. I usually have the returns pointing upward to shoot across the water and push leaves toward the...

Significantly different PH in deep end versus shallow end?

My pH readings are significantly different if I take them in the deep end versus the shallow end. In the shallow end near a jet I am getting readings of deep purple around 8 and at the deep end at around 7. I couldn't find any posts on this in any searches. Should I just assume I am in...

Backyard Landscaping Project - Final Pics!

Re: Need Help With Tree Selection Well the basic rule is this: the closer the tree to the pool the larger the leaves should be. Trees with smaller leaves are more prone to fall and clog the drains. Trees with larger leaves fall much less and when they do they are easier to remove or less...

Anyone familiar with "Clorox Germicidal Bleach"?

So far I have found that pretty much any brand that has "Germicidal" in the name is plane old bleach. Brian

    Algae Spots on Waterline Tile

Thanks for the bump there Butterfly. No, I have simply been brushing every three days or so. Should I maybe use a spray bottle of bleach? Are the spots fairly typical as I have described by the way? I have zero algae in the pool other than these spots on the tiles with water test results...

New Diamond Brite Plaster- When can I run Heater?

Just to expand on this, generally the reason they tell you not to run the heater is because they do an initial acid bath with a quartz plaster. However, they should have completely bypassed the heater if they were going to do that. The acid will corrode the heat exchanger. Brian

    Algae Spots on Waterline Tile

It has not been particularly problematic but every few days I have small round algae spots (black algae I would assume) that show up on the grout lines between the waterline tiles around the pool. Its typically in more shadow prone areas, corners and about an inch or two above the waterline so...

    Brian7270's Renovation

Thanks for the compliments. I have simplified the steps here, it was much more painful a process than I expected and I am a developer by the way so I am by no means a novice to construction. I started looking at options and interviewing people in early March and did not get my contractor...

    Brian7270's Renovation

Jerry recommended chipping down the bond beam and installing flagstone as well as flagstone on the rear wall area and rear flatwork area around the spa. He would repair the pavers at the deck areas with salvaged pavers I kept. This was a big deal to a lot of people by the way who wanted...

    Brian7270's Renovation

Well it was a tedious process buts its basically finished now. We purchased a "fixer upper" home outside Dallas, Texas in February knowing a lot of work would be required. The pool renovation and yard renovation grew much larger than anticipated. The previous owners took care of very little...

rebar for stamped concrete deck ... or not?

WWF is fairly standard for flatwork. Rebar is an upgrade in most locations but fairly standard where I am in Texas due to moving soils. It might be time to get some more quotes. I had a heck of a time finding reliable people for my pool renovation. I went through about six companies before I...

And this is very important by the way. The most common lazy thing I see contractors do is lay the wwf smack on the ground and pour the concrete. This does nothing. Brian

rebar for stamped concrete deck ... or not?

Concrete is a wonderful product in that it takes high compressive strength but will break with very little tension loads applied. We do not purposely put the concrete in a tension situation but its a natural byproduct of being used in construction. Flatwork is typically in compression at the...

rebar for stamped concrete deck ... or not?

Welded wire fabric is what you are after. And yes, I would recommend it strongly. The only thing that maybe does not need it depending on the soils in your area is sidewalks. But large areas definitely need it as concrete cannot act in tension and the wwf allows the contract to act in tension...

    Stever's Pool Build

You probably do not want to hear this It sounds like you need to have those areas need to be knocked out, repaired and plastered. You have a very atypical setup and I hope you don't take this as a criticism of your layout but I wonder if you considered doing an infinity edge instead of the...
