Hi CBink! Everything is looking really nice - any updated schedule on water? It looks like you must be getting pretty close. We haven't really had much progress on ours since they put the water in last weekend. We are swimming so that's the important thing as we've had the hottest two weeks...

Its looking really good cbink. I like the grotto and imagine that it'll be a great place to relax out of the sun. We have been in the pool non-stop since we got water on Friday night and the novelty is not wearing off anytime soon! I am hoping you are able to swim this next weekend as you...

Pool Build (San Diego) - POOL FILLED PICS 8/31

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - POOL FILLED 8/31 Thanks Foobert! I solo'd on my 16th birthday and although I haven't flown in close to 10 years I still love airplanes. Living in view of KSEE is a big plus in my book - we have front row seats for "Wings Over Gillespie" airshow every year which...

We added the acid this morning (PB came by) and now the PH is around 7.0-7.2 and he said to expect it to continue to creep up as the pepple finish pools tend to have the PH jump around a bit for the first month. I'm going to try to keep an eye on it.

Hi Flippy - yes we actually just discussed that recently with them. Hopefully they give the ok :) Would be nice to get a little more view although we are not complaining about the one we have.

Here are my first test results from my TF-100 kit. The PB just dropped a few chlorine pucks in the skimmer a few hours ago but no measurable levels yet detected. FC - 0 CC - 0 pH - 8.2+ TA - 100 CH - 160 CYA - 0 Borates - n/a I sent my PB a txt requesting him to add more muriatic acid as the...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - NIGHT SHOT 8/30 Some friends came over tonight to check out the water... feels great to finally swim! We still have some rock work and soft scape to complete but its a major milestone we hit today. Very happy that my PB did live up to his word and got us swimming...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - POOL FILLING NOW 8/30 It is Stonescapes Midnight Blue - hopefully as the pool gets filled up later today I'll be able to send some photos. In the meantime I have to go start working in the heat/humidity to get this low voltage wiring hooked up for the PB so we can...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - POOL FILLING NOW 8/30 We officially started filling the pool at 7:30am this morning. There is still rock work and cleanup to do but we should be swimming tomorrow! I hope to upload photos later today if I have a chance - I have to work with the PB to connect my...

Well glad you got the choice! With ours the stone doesn't fit together quite as tight as yours so the thin layer of grout ended up making sense. Can't wait to see your project all finished!

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - STONEWORK PICTURES ADDED 8/27 Yes the barstools definitely needed to be higher. We stacked some stone on one of them to get a good gauge on how much higher they needed to go. I think they are all good now. Best of luck for next weekend! It's going to be a...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - BEACH ENTRY PICTURES ADDED 8/27 Here are the photos at the end of the day of the beach entry... the plaster guys were complaining about the irregular stone but the finish look I think is worth their hard efforts. Tomorrow we turn this pool BLUE!

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - STONEWORK PICTURES ADDED 8/20 We decided to go with 511 Impregnator Sealer and our current schedule looks as follows: 1) Today - * Inspection / Failed. Need to do a little more work on the waterfall before he will approve us moving forward. He also has...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - STONEWORK PICTURES ADDED 8/20 So my work has taken a toll this last week and we have had some fitful progress -- a few issues with an inspection and it seems we are somewhat back on track. The decision was made to do SOME grout on the stacked stone as the PB and...

I feel for you... our stone guys didn't show up last weekend and we failed our scheduled inspection today because they were not complete. They rolled up around 11am like it was no big deal. Sigh... my poor PB was calling them all weekend to find out why they were not at the project site as...

Looking good. Have you decided on a sealer? We are looking at 511 impregnator or porous plus and DuPont stonetech salt resistant sealer. Biggest concern with the DuPont is that it requires a 72 hour cure with no moisture...ok for first application but what about future years? This has me...

Re: Pool Build (San Diego) - STONEWORK PICTURES ADDED 8/20 Entire story with photos to come soon... I was out at clients all day yesterday so didn't have a chance to focus on much pool stuff. The basic issue was: 1) We saw a specific stone + installed look at RCP 2) The stone was installed...

    New build, Houston (Cypress), Tx

Looking great -- can't wait to see the waterfall. Are they planning on using any grout on the stacked stone or just the mortar foundation? I ask only because we got grout last night ... and were a little surprised at the finished look. (Required a conversation this morning with the PB) I'm...

    New build, Houston (Cypress), Tx

The stone looks really good... I feel for all you TX folks that seem to have such soft stone and issues with the SWG. After enjoying a few salt water pools I couldn't imagine going back to a chlorine - if for no other reason than I don't want to lug the chemicals around. Also - the stone work...

Re: In Progress Pool Build (San Diego) - PICTURES ADDED 8/20 @cbink Here you go! It feels like the stonework is proceeding at a snails pace. This is probably because our guys only show up for 2-3 hours a day then go home! (ARGGGG - best pirate imitation) Our PB is starting to crack the whip...

How to Protect Oneself from a Mechanic's Lien?

A good resource for more information in your area would be to contact the State Contractor Licensing Board for assistance (http://www.cslb.ca.gov in California). They should be able to tell you if your contractor and subcontractors A) Have a license B) Have proper bond and insurance C) How long...

How to Protect Oneself from a Mechanic's Lien?

Here in CA there are two types of lien releases that should be signed by your pool contractor (and all his subcontractors) before providing any progress payments. The first is a "Conditional waiver and release upon progress payment" for progress payments. The second is a "Unconditional waiver...

Re: In Progress Pool Build (San Diego) - PICTURES ADDED 8/16 Equipment has arrived (still waiting on one more Whisperflo 2HP 2 speed pump for the waterfall) - now the PB can start having some fun hooking up all that plumbing! (DE filter, Whisperflo 2hp and Intelliflo VS pump not shown)
