My pump is pretty loud. Is this normal?

The NEC does not require your pump to be wired with a GFCI breaker; however the circuit to your service receptacle and to the light Must be GFCI protected. Typically it is a separate 120v circuit and is protected at the receptacle by a GFCI outlet which then feeds on the load side to the light...

    PH climbing daily by .3

Thanks Weatherby for the insight on the plaster cure. I also can accept the test variance for the cya being user error. I think I'll just hold my TA at the low end of the recommendation and wait out the PH rise with MA Thanks again to all who responded!

    PH climbing daily by .3

The only thing I have put in my pool since I started reading this forum is liquid chlorine, salt and muriatic acid. So the CYA remains a mystery.

    PH climbing daily by .3

No to the deck jets. Seldom even use the pool except on weekends. Did get the TA down from 140 at refill 30 days ago. I'll just keep working on lowering the TA. Any ideas where the raise in CYA came from? Muriatic acid perhaps?

    PH climbing daily by .3

I have a 2' high waterfall which is seldom used and there is a spillover from the spa with only a 1"drop. So now I am confused because the pool calculator tells me to aerate to lower my TA (which I thought was fine to start with since it is in the suggested 70-90+ range).

    PH climbing daily by .3

Still fairly new to pool school, but my water is brilliant and I no longer am dealing with the idiots at the pool store  My concern is that my PH is climbing daily by .3ppm, so every 3 days I'm adding about a quart of 31% muriatic acid. I daily replenish my chlorine with about 20-28 oz...

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

 Please double-check my reasoning. If my FC loss due to sunshine is 3-4 ppm daily, and the min FC for my CYA is 4, then my logic says I should raise my target FC to at least 8 or 9 with a cushion. Am I reasoning correctly :?:

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

Thanks, I will run it again tonight; cheap insurance! Already dropped PH to 7.2. As for the bleach, I am using 12.5% chlorine from wholesale pool supplier.

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

OK, got PH to 7.5. Total FC loss yesterday due to sunlight and light bather load was 4.5ppm. Raised FC to 6 and ran OTCL. This morning's reading is 5ppm, 0-CC. Yesterday it was 106 during the day and the overnight temp never went below 85. Am I good to go? :-D EDIT Just checked my PH, up to 7.8...

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

I read somewhere on the site that the pool calculator was available to download to use when offline. Can't find any reference on how to do it. Can anyone help?

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

Added 16 oz muriatic acid, new PH=7.8; adding 12oz more. What is the preferred method of adding acid to the water?

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

Dumb question= Did you mean to shock and run OCLT or just run OCLT?

    what RPM for vacuuming?

I recently spoke with the Hayward service field supervisor who insisted I set my max rpm in control panel to 3200. Avoids pump getting stuck in a cycle of shutting down during priming if sensors aren't happy with amp draw. Made sense to me so i was able to go back to auto-sense on prime instead...

Partial drain to lower CYA- Now what?

Have been reading the posts on many forums and really appreciate the knowledge being shared. It became obvious to me the only way I was going to get back to a "trouble free pool" was by draining off about 3/4 of my water, which I am doing now. :?: My question is when I refill what steps should...

    Sunman's new thread

Do not hi-jack an existing thread. If you have a question, please start your own thread. Loved your analysis. I am at the end of that cycle myself and have resigned to draining and refilling. My question in the interim is about high FC needed with CYA levels near 200. The target of 12 is much...
