Is this algae? Rust? Alien life?

Brilliant idea. I checked with a regular magnet, and it didn’t grab hold. I’ll pick up some rare earth magnets and check with those too.

Is this algae? Rust? Alien life?

We have a spot that continually is growing on our wall. Daily, this blob shows up, we brush it off and it’s brown underneath it, and by the next day, the blob is back. My gut says it’s rust, but I’m hoping one of y’all will tell me it’s something different.

    Water in J-Box

Thanks for this! I finally got the others in but haven’t installed them yet. I might use one of these instead.

    Water in J-Box

I’m still waiting on the Jandy check valves for the blower. I should probably cancel the order and get them from another source at this point. In the meantime I removed the blower and capped off the line and my electrician came out and re-wired where the damage was and he put a GFCI breaker at...

Do Auto-filler Float Valves have Backflow Preventers?

I shot some videos this morning to help explain everything. We aren't working with copper on this and I'm pretty handy. Here's the pool from the top showing where the auto-filler float valve (toilet type) is and the locations of the photos I took yesterday: Here are more details from below...

Do Auto-filler Float Valves have Backflow Preventers?

Yes the collection tank is also potable water. It's used for everything in the house. This is currently how it's connected. That hose bib comes from the rainwater tank. We want to change the water source to the water supplied by the meter and come off of the main line/pipe from the sprinkler.

Do Auto-filler Float Valves have Backflow Preventers?

Our house has a rainwater collection system that supplies all the water to the house. We use municipal water for the sprinkler system, but currently it's on the house's rain water. To do this we need to cut one of the pipes that currently supplies the water to the pool for the auto-filler. We...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

Thank you so much! I adjusted the pump to lower the cleaner speed just a little more and everything is working beautifully. I’m so grateful y’all were able to help me with this. Yes, our view is of Lake Travis! We’re on the south side of the lake just outside of Lakeway. It’s a really...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

It goes into the pump baskets I think. I don't have any other debris baskets.

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

Thanks for the additional info on the IFCS. I was thinking that the valve controlled the water to the system, not that it was suction but now that you've pointed it out, it makes sense. I'll check the pipes i the back. Interestingly though, now that everything is working property with the...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

As setup, the pump that turns off at 5 is the main filter pump (pump 1). The cleaner and vanishing edge are set to run all day/night (pump 2). The only thing in the IFCS is still like to be able to do is turn off that and have the vanishing edge still run. I don’t understand what that 3-way...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

Gentlemen, we have progress!! I misunderstood this. These are dipswitches INSIDE the pump not on the panel. I opened up pump 2. Dipswitches were wrong. I changed them and now pump 2 behaves as pump 2. Vanishing Edge option in my iAqualink controls it now. I changed the videos to public, the...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

Yes, pump 1 runs its schedule as it is in the programming. Pump 2 seems to run the same schedule though. I have tried to rotate the valve on the cleaner, the cleaner doesn’t turn off when when I turn it to “Off.” These are my observations. Turning off cleaner there is no perceptible difference...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

I took these the other day. I’m not at the house right now but I’ll open it up again late tomorrow and get better photos that include the breakers. I think one of them goes through a relay and the other is only wired to the breaker.

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

@Jimrahbe @HermanTX Here is the additional info, but I want to share an observation. When I turn off the "Filter Pump" in my shortcuts (iAqualink) everything turns off, including the overflow and IFCS. I assume it's a shortcut and I've looked through the iAqualink interface and can't find what...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

@Jimrahbe a lot of that actually makes sense. This is pretty exciting. It’s been confusing me since we finished the pool almost a year ago. You are correct, no skimmers. And while we’re on that topic, it’s time for a redesign of that system in the industry. Keeping an overflow basin clean is...

In Floor Cleaning System - How Should it Work?

@proavia if the pump isn’t running, isn’t the water more stagnant and doesn’t the water need to run through the filtration system at least several hours a day? Or, does the other pump do that sufficiently?
