Need a little help with stains and pH.

Thanks for the reply. The guy at the pool store said his method with the acid would drop the TA in days. I was just curious if anyone here has tried this?

Need a little help with stains and pH.

I've done great at keeping my pool balanced up until last year I kind of gave up on it. When I closed the pool last year I rushed it and I opened it to a swamp. Got the water clear, but I have what I believe to be algae stains along the edges and my pH is out of control. I haven't tested this...

    Gotta love well water.

Didn't add any sequestrants and the water is crystal clear after a night of the filter running. I'm guessing it was sand from my well and not metals, because I never get, any staining and in only added the metal out once last year. Just got to give it a good vacuuming and wait for it to warm up...

    Gotta love well water.

Main ingredient says acrylic copolymer, and secondary is citric acid. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

    Gotta love well water.

Not sure I used it once last year before I read about sequestrants on this forum. It worked pretty much overnight and I never had to add it again all year. My water was perfect all summer, I received compliments all the time. Thanks to this website off course. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

    Gotta love well water.

Yeah, I used metal out when I put the pool up last year and it was fine all summer. No staining or anything. So, I bought a filter for the end of the hose this year and still my water is full of iron. I just put some DE in my sand filter to help capture the small particles so hopefully it will...

    Gotta love well water.

Opened the pool yesterday and the water was crystal clear. Then I filled with a filter on the end of my hose and now it looks like ****. PH 7.0 Cya 20 Fc 2.5 Cc 0 Those numbers are after the fill up. So, I doubt there's any algae growing if I still had fc leftover and no cc. Sent from my...

Hartland MI. I've had my solar cover on for a week now and can't get my water over 76-78°. I guess it's my fault for putting up a pool this year. That's just my kind of luck. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4

Getting started, having trouble keeping chlorine level up

Re: Getting started, having trouble keeping chlorine level u Depending on your cya and the amount of sun and other factors your cl level will vary every day. Just add enough bleach to keep it n range till the next day. I usually shoot for a couple ppm over the max to keep it from getting too...

Chemicals all out of whack! Can I wait until next year?

Cya is way too high for a slamming you would go broke buying that much bleach. Do partial drain and fills to get your cya down near 50 then slam it. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

    Back with another chemical question

What's your cya level? And get some bleach n that pool fast before you have real problems. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Ok, more questions. My chlorine level is always good and my ph is usually around 7.4-7.6, but after swimming my skin is really dry and the water burns my eyes. What else should I be checking for that would cause this? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Need to use some tricolor tabs in a pinch. They are 1" tabs. My cya is under 40 so I should be good there but to get my fc from 2 to 6 hw many tablets would that be and can I add them to the skimmer? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

    couple quick ???'s

You could definitely use some ma, your ph is a little high. I can't see the stabalizer going bad. I would also check your ta. That will affect how your ph acts. Mine is high and because of that my ph keeps rising. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

I'm back . .this time with a test kit!

You might need a sequestrant also being that you have well water. Most wells have a high iron content that can tint the water after adding chlorine. The sequestrant will take the guessing out of the equation and let you know if it's iron or algae. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

    Copper Green pool

Did the water change to green after adding chlorine? If so it is probably a metal problem. I had the same issue. I used metal out even though it's not recommended it still got the job done. You need chlorine most of all so you don't end up with an algae problem. Sent from my SPH-L720 using...

Get some chlorine in your pool before you have an algae problem, if you don't already. What is your cc level? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Try downloading the app pool pal from the play store. It works great for me. Almost as good as the pool calculator on this forum. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

    light blue cloud, looow FC

Have you added a metal out product yet? My water was greenish but clear when I started due to my well water and the sequestrant helped a lot. If your cc level is high you are fighting an algae problem and the shock process is the way to go. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

I'd say you need a better test kit or you misread it somehow. If you're just adding bleach your cya shouldn't change at all. And don't trust the pool store tests. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Thank you for the responses. I test everyday, but ran out of acid two days ago and just picked some up today. I bought 2 gallons this time. Hopefully I can get my ta down a little and not have to add acid as much. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

My ta is high so my ph rises rather quickly and I just tested it and it was at 8 so I added 62oz to bring it down to around 7.4. Should I not add that much at once? Also, my kid is bugging me to get in. I know you said you don't have to wait that long after, but I added a little more than usual...
